GreatCall Prepaid Plans

There are a few plans to choose from and each one allows you to select the number of minutes and amount of data that is best for you. The more minutes and data you want, the more expensive your plan will be, and vice versa.

The GreatCall plan options available to you depend on the phone you purchase. There are only two compatible phones with GreatCall—a smartphone and a flip phone.

  • The JitterbugSmart 2 is GreatCall’s lone smartphone. With this phone, you can purchase a plan that has calls, text, AND data.
  • The Jitterbug Flip is the only other handset compatible with GreatCall. With this phone you can only purchase plans with calls and text—there is no data available with these phones.

Let’s Talk Editor’s Pick

Health and Safety Services

Because GreatCall’s plans center around the elderly, they have health and safety services that will make it easier for you to call for help should you need it.

5Star Emergency Calling

Every plan gives you access to 5Star emergency services 24/7. With just the touch of a button on either phone, you can call for help if you have fallen, are lost, or are in an accident. 5Star will send you the necessary help whether it be an ambulance, a nurse, or the police.

GreatCall Link

Friends and family can download this free app to stay connected to you by monitoring your phone without bothering you. GreatCall Link will notify your significant others if you call 5Star, and they can also check on your location at any time to make sure you’re not lost or somewhere you shouldn’t be. This app also gives significant others a view of your phone screen so they can remind you to charge your phone or follow-up on notifications.

GreatCall Rides

GreatCall partners with the rideshare company, Lyft. With a GreatCall phone, you can get a ride anywhere at any time by dialing “0” and talking with an operator. The operator will contact Lyft and get you where you need to go. Better yet, you don’t have to worry about paying for the Lyft right away, because the cost of the ride will show up on your monthly bill.

Use GreatCall Rides to get to and from medical appointments, the grocery store, or anywhere else you need to be.

GreatCall Safety Devices

If you need or want more peace of mind, GreatCall offers a few devices that make getting help much easier. The two devices, Lively Wearable and Lively Mobile Medical Alert, require their own service plan which will show up on your normal monthly GreatCall bill. The two devices have basically the same function, but each has its own pros and cons.

Lively Wearable

To use the Lively Wearable you need a smartphone that operates on Android 4.4 or IOS 8.0 or higher. You don’t need to have a GreatCall phone to use this device, but you do need a smartphone. In case of an emergency, you will press the button on Lively Wearable, which will connect you to 5Star through your phone. It will also send notifications to your loved ones and help to your location if you need it.

Lively Wearable requires a monthly service plan and a one-time activation fee. You can wear it as a necklace or as a watch, and the battery lasts about six months, so you won’t have to worry about constantly recharging or replacing it.

Lively Mobile Medical Alert

The Lively Mobile Medical Alert acts as a phone, so you can use it by itself. If you’re in need of help, you simply press the button and a 5Star representative will talk with you and send medical personnel if necessary. Because it doesn’t connect through a cell phone, the monthly service plan is a little more expensive, but not by much. One downside about the Lively Mobile Medical Alert is that you need to recharge it daily, which can be easy to forget.

You can wear this medical device on your wrist, around your neck, or on a belt loop. If you need more peace of mind, you can pay extra money each month for GPS and fall detection.
