Xfinity Mobile is an MVNO (mobile virtual network operator) that offers prepaid phone plans to current Comcast TV and internet customers. Xfinity Mobile operates on Verizon’s robust network, which covers 70% of the U.S, beating the likes of AT&T, T-Mobile, and Sprint. Xfinity Mobile offers an impressive selection of phones, all of which can be purchased on monthly installments.

Xfinity Phone Payment Options
You can buy an Xfinity Mobile phone one of two ways:
- RRP (pay the full price upfront)
- Monthly installments (24 months)
Unlike many small carriers, Xfinity Mobile doesn’t charge interest on its device payment plan, so you can rest assured you’re not overpaying for your new smartphone.

iPhones from Xfinity Mobile
Xfinity Mobile carries the latest iPhone releases, including the iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro, and iPhone 11 Pro Max. If you’re on a budget, you can also snag an older model like the iPhone 7 or iPhone 8.

Android Phones from Xfinity Mobile
Xfinity Mobile offers a wide range of Android phones for sale, from the Samsung S20, S10, and Note10 series to the Google Pixel 4 and 4XL. There’s a little something for LG fans with the LG G8 ThinQ, and customers looking for a cheap Android device may want to consider Motorola’s moto e⁶ or moto g⁷ power.

Cheap Phones from Xfinity Mobile
Xfinity Mobile’s selection of cheap phones is fairly limited and also largely depends on your definition of “cheap.” There are only a handful of devices for under $400, including the iPhone 7 and Samsung Galaxy A50; however, the good news is every one of Xfinity Mobile’s phones is available for purchase on a monthly installment plan, which breaks up the full price into more manageable payments.

How to Buy a New Phone on Xfinity Mobile
Xfinity Mobile offers two ways to buy a new phone—outright or a 24-month device payment plan.
Buying an Xfinity Mobile Phone Outright
The simplest way to buy an Xfinity Mobile smartphone is to purchase it outright: add the phone to your cart, pay for it in full, and then own it. Of course, this isn’t always manageable, considering the high cost of flagship devices. Smartphones can cost as much as $1,599.99 (for the Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra with 512GB of storage). If you don’t feel like choosing between your rent and a new cell phone, you can always go with a cheaper device—they carry a few under $400—or buy an Xfinity Mobile phone on monthly installments.
Buying an Xfinity Mobile Phone Via Monthly Payments
All of Xfinity Mobile’s phones are available through the carrier’s monthly 0% APR installment plan, which consists of 24 monthly payments (Xfinity Mobile divides the full price of the phone into equal monthly payments). While you don’t have to pay any interest, there’s a chance you’ll be required to make a down payment—this will be contingent upon a credit check. If you have great credit, then it’s fairly likely that you won’t have to make a down payment. Conversely, if you have poor credit or no credit history, the down payment may be higher than you were hoping.
Although Xfinity Mobile is a contract-free prepaid carrier, buying a phone on monthly installments still resembles a contract in that you cannot leave any time and own your device. If you switch from Xfinity Mobile to a different carrier, you’ll have to pay the remaining balance on your phone. While that amount may be relatively low if you’ve stayed with Xfinity for at least 18 months, it could be a tough cost to swallow if you’ve only been with them for a few months.
Bring Your Own Phone to Xfinity Mobile
If you don’t need a new phone, you can bring your own device to Xfinity Mobile, as long as its unlocked and compatible with Verizon’s network (the network Xfinity Mobile runs on). All iPhones (from select carriers) starting with the iPhone 6 and later are compatible, while only select Google and Samsung phones are compatible.
Before switching to Xfinity Mobile, you’ll want to check if your phone is compatible. You can do that on Xfinity Mobile’s website. Once you’ve confirmed your phone’s compatibility:
- Choose an Xfinity Mobile phone plan.
- Receive a free SIM card in the mail.
- Sign in to your Xfinity Mobile account to begin activation.
- Activate your phone in as little as 10 minutes.
You can only bring your phone to Xfinity Mobile if it is unlocked. If you aren’t sure whether it’s unlocked or not, check with your current carrier. Hint: you probably own your device if you’ve paid it off in full.
