My first impression of the Galaxy S was that it was just another copy of the unprecedented iPhone. But without even turning the screen on, the Samsung Galaxy S already seems to have a personality of its own. Its four inch screen, slim look, and polished design immediately caught my attention. As I turn the screen on, the Galaxy S’s background photo looks like it was taken from a professional camera. The surprisingly colorful and detailed photo makes me even more curious about what the phone has in store for me. So, I quickly swipe the screen any direction I want to unlock the phone, and I start exploring. The first thing I check out is the new keyboard called swype. Although touch screen keyboards are not my favorite, the new swype key is extremely easy to adjust to, and it makes screen typing much less complicated. In my opinion, though, the Blackberry’s keyboard is much easier to type on, and I make less mistakes on it. Next, I click on the already-downloaded Facebook app. The log-in process is fast and simple, and I find myself looking at my Facebook home page in less than a few seconds. I could definitely get used to this phone after experiencing its incredible internet speed. I then decide to check out my friend’s photos to see the quality of the pictures. Sure enough, the Galaxy S does not fail to show me a clear and complete photo even when I zoom in to the picture. My fascination with the amazing quality of pictures led me to check out the phone’s camera. The Galaxy S’s camera probably takes better pictures than my own Canon Powershot. The downside, though, is that it doesn’t zoom or take clear pictures of moving objects. Although internet speed is fast, the YouTube videos on the Galaxy S download somewhat slowly. The most interesting application on this phone is the Map. Although it can’t always tell me where my current location is, the map is extremely detailed and clear. I love that it can show me how long it would take to go from one place to another whether I go by car, bike, or foot. The navigation system is also amazing because it shows me the actual picture (which almost looks 3-D) of the street that I’m on. And since my sense of direction is horrible, the written directions are extremely helpful to me too. Google earth is also a fun application to download so I can have a visual image of the houses or specific buildings that I’m looking for. Along with having a good map on this phone, I also need to make sure that the weather application is as promising. I personally like to check the weather right when I wake up so that I dress appropriately. I found that the weather application is very reliable, and I can constantly check it whenever I want by simply refreshing the screen. I can even watch the daily forecast video online, but I rather not because the video screen is pretty blurry. Overall, the Galaxy S is an amazing phone. When I bought the iPhone three years ago, I was sure that no other phone would be able to be more advanced. However, after discovering all of the new and fascinating android applications on the Galaxy S, I realized that Google somehow found an ingenious way to outdo the image and the applications of the iPhone. Applications Voice Search: you can speak into the phone and it’ll search what you said into Google. I love this application because I would rather speak than type, and the voice search even picks up on complex words. Amazon MP3: This simple and quick application shows you a variety of songs that you can immediately buy straight from your phone. Each song takes less than a few seconds to download. Car Locator: Since my sister always forgets where she parks her car, this application is great for me. All I have to do is save my car’s location by using a one-touch home screen widget so that when I’m looking for my car, Car Locator will give me a map along with directions. With this application, I never have to worry about spending numerous hours trying to find where my sister parked her car. Gesture Search: Since I downloaded so many apps, it takes a while for me to find what I’m looking for. This app lets me draw gestures on my phone, and it browses through my phone’s contacts, apps, bookmarks, and music. The best part of the app is that it picks up my gestures correctly and quickly so that my searches are efficient and simple. Metal Detector: I use this fun app when I go to the beach or when I’m simply bored. It’s function is pretty self-explanatory: it detects metal. WaveSecure: Since I’m not the most responsible person, this app is extremely important to me because I constantly misplace my phone. Instead of spending hours looking for it, I can go on to the WaveSecure’s website and turn on my phone’s GPS system to pinpoint its exact location. The best part about this app is that if a thief steals my phone, I can go on the WaveSecure website and wipe out all my personal date and/or lock my phone down. iSpy: If you like playing fun games when you’re bored, you should definitely install this app. It is also a great game to team up with your friends so that you can solve the difficult questions! Layar Reality Browser: This app is so neat! If you are looking for a nice lunch restaurant, for example, you simply point the phone’s camera at a bunch of different objects and it will show you where the best lunch spots are. You can download searches ranging from fine dining to finding twitter users near you in 3-D. PicSay: I love to use this application on my friends and family. This app lets me edit all of my pictures by changing a photos color, adding cool effects like distortion, and adding fun and crazy stickers. WeirdFacts: Whenever I’m bored, I like to look at this app and learn about weird (but fun) facts. Not only does it entertain me, but it makes me smarter and more cultured too!

I am completely in love with this. The phone battery life is great, no complaints. The camera is awesome, despite the no flash, and the quality is pretty good, crystal clear graphics.

T-Mobile might have fired the first shot in the battle for Android supremacy, but things have been a little quiet since 2008. But now that Droid army has made a splash, Samsung is coming out swinging...
