My wife and I just recently switched from Sprint PCS to Verizon Wireless and our phones and their service works like a charm. We've also been with T-Mobile, Nextel, and Cingular and we didn't like those since their coverage and call quality lagged, but so far Verizon has been the best Wireless carrier yet and I don't think we'll ever switch again. So I highly recommend Verizon to anyone who is thinking about switching to another cell phone company.

Money usually drives me to make decisions and Verizon is pushing me away with their costs. I am a mild user of the cell phone, probably 30 min or less during the week days only...so they offer nothing for this type of user. When I am at work I have an office phone and on the weekends I have my home phone. I pay about 78.00/month w/ taxes and fees for a single line and use 500 of my 900 minutes. I hate that I pay for 400 min that I never use and don't get the benefit of rollover or some other type of cost benefit. I have been a customer of Verizon since it was Primeco, but I still get stuck in their contracts which seem to drag on forever. I always feel like I have the oldest phones around and spend way to much for them. I will be paying to cancel my contract with them for 175, just so I can move on finally. Waiting 2 years for a new phone or to get a 100 discount is ridiculous, cell phones are like computers now, once you get one in a years time they are dinosaurs!

I moved from San Diego to Berkeley to attend school equiped with Sprint service. It was horrible. I switched to cingular the next year, which was worse. I switched to AT&T the next year, which was even worse than the previous two. I switched to Verizon Jan 2004 and it is by far, hands down infinitely better than all of the above for the entire bay area. I now live on the peninsula (redwood city) and have had almost zero problems with Verizon. It's not the cheapest but you get what you pay for. I will especially never use AT&T ever again. I could count the number of times that I DIDN'T drop a call (over a one year span) on two hands. Yes, it was that bad.

Ever since I switched my service to Verizon Wireless from AT&T. I don't have calls dropping in my house, when I go to school on campus my calls don't drop as much, customers service is nice and their a big help they discuss my bill with me and all. The coverage area is great! If you don't have Verizon Wireless now, that's sad!

Verizon Wireless no doubt has the best coverage. I have never lost a call except once when I was at the base of the mountain. I can even receive and make calls inside crowded buildings. Coverage is excellent in Southern California. Call quality is great and I think it is, in part, due to the phone you select. My phone offers great call quality. No static, can hear perfectly. My other friends have other carriers and they're always breaking up, have static, or sound muffled. Customer service has been good so far. They respond promptly and offer decent information. I have yet to have a complaint. The cost for Verizon isn't exactly the most competitive or comparable really. They do have the best coverage and so demands you pay for the quality and quantity of their services. In the end, you must choose a plan best suited to your needs and I thought Verizon provided a decent price for my needs.

Pluses: coverage is great, and call quality is good. Minuses: very many. First of all 4G-LTE very unreliable. In some cities it works great (it was unbelievably fast in Indianapolis at 15Mbps, and always worked) yet back in my home town, 4G rarely connects, drops often, and when it connects the speeds barely make it to 1Mbps. Second, thanks to all the added fees they slip in, our monthly bill is $40 or more the agreed-upon contract price. Their only response is, basically, nothing: pay the bill or lose your service. Third, I'm grandfathered into the unlimited data plan, so the second line can never be upgraded to unlimited and we're stuck providing our own phones if we want to remain with them. Or, get reamed even more by being billed a lot more per month. Fourth, VZW is the ONLY company that totally locks down all of their phones. Takes forever to get Android updates, sometimes a year or more after an OS is updated. At least the hacking community finds ways to root these phones despite VZW locking them down. Poor device support, in other words. Looking to upgrade phones now as we are out of contract, and we're shopping all the alternatives. It's too bad they are all highly flawed in one way or another.

These people are a dangerous combination of incompetent, arrogant and grossly insensitive! I spent considerable time during two calls to them and followed-up with emails to make sure they'd set my phone so it'd would work when I got to Europe for my vacation. So, with my arrival delay disrupting my planned meeting at my apartment rental I was stranded alone at 10 pm in a neighborhood I didn't know, no way to make a call no knowledge of the transit available, and nowhere to go. Finally made it back to the center of Rome and found a hotel room around midnight at considerable added expense. They have yet to acknowledge their inexcusable and incompetent handling of this or apologize for my extremely stressful experience. It took them 5 days and my sending them two more emails before they finally sent me the info I needed to make my phone work. They're excuse for all this -- they were busy!! When I now call to vent and tell them they owe me for what they've put me through, they told me I'd have to wait for a supervisor to call me back in 24-48 hours. I've never been stonewalled and disregarded like this! If you think this is acceptable customer care, then this is the company for you!

I'v been with Verizon for over 10 years now. I'm happy to say they are awesome. Never had a problem with them. I get a corp discount through the company I work for, not much, but it helps. I have the $30 unlimited data plan, my data plan will never expire, nor will never be forced to change data plans/voice plans. I'm grandfathered into my data and voice plan.

I tried Verizon prepaid for one week - while still maintaining my account with another major provider, just in case. My experience was that not only was Verizon's coverage in my area nowhere near the competition, but their customer service was non-existent. Getting a live person on the phone when you have an issue with prepaid service is virtually impossible - I had to call their sales line (where you *always* get a live human being) and ask to be transferred to tech support every time. When I mentioned I was a prepaid customer, they began addressing me in a very different fashion...like I was unworthy of their time. I started off calling them about an issue I hoped to resolve, and *2 hours later*, after being bounced around to like 5 different people and being on hold for more than half the time - I became so frustrated that I told the person "just cancel the account"...which they were obviously reluctant to do. Very odd style of customer service Verizon has - I'd suggest avoiding them at any cost.

I have been a verizon customer for over 10 years. I have had 4 droids all die. My upgrade date is next week. I wanted to upgrade to an apple product. They said NO WAY, apple has a no exceptions policy. EVEN if my phone is broken (it won't make calls) they would rather send me a new phone for a week and then have me throw that one in the trash. In a week I can upgrade to the iphone. The rep said it was crazy but could do nothing about it. This is the worst customer service ever!

Here are the cons with verizon 1) no minutes cary forward (AT&T does) 2) no data plan less than @30 (AT&T does) 3) corporate discounts (AT&T is more - 23-25%) 4) activation is charged for corporate plans(AT&T waiveoff for corporate plans) so, overall AT&T is the best which I had earlier, by mistake transferred to Verizon and suffering now.

With a medical emergency forcing us to finally get cell phones, we went to the Verizon store on Capitol Blvd right before Wake Forest, NC and ended up walking out with nothing after being sneered at by the man working there for wanting just plain phones with no bells and whistles. Everything in the store, from devices to plans, was priced significantly higher than online. Because we live in the middle of nowhere, Verizon is the only provider we could go with. If not, the unpleasant time spent in that Verizon store would have kept us from ever doing any business with them. We went online, found the cheapest plan that met our needs, sent off for them and they were here two days later. Setting them up was easy and we can actually get some reception. The quality of the call isn't the best; in fact, it's got an echo but I didn't really expect it to be that great, considering it's just a phone.

Overall I've been happy with my original droid but the coverage in Colorado is quite spotty and I regularly drop calls in the city of Denver or am limited on their 1G network. My phone will say 3G with 2/3 bars but the second I do anything with it the coverage drops off their 3G network. They do give decent discounts for educators

I have been a long time Verizon customer. I am now being forced into selecting a different plan in order to upgrade my phone because they no longer want to offer the unlimited data in their package. I am currently shopping around for different carriers that include unlimited everything. I am very disappointed because Verizon is higher priced but they do have great coverage.

The phone specs are great; however, they really don't do much good without a signal. Both my wife and I work at the southern tip of Lake Michigan and neither of us (in 2 different cities) can make a phone call. According to the coverage map, the signal drops from best to nothing (within feet) right when the water starts. We both work right at the edge of the lake. Verizon has the most expensive plans of all of the carriers and being in a city, I expected more. And the personnel at the Verizon Store in Valparaiso Indiana have the "I don't care" attitude when you walk out when you can't get any customer service. We have 14 days to get out of the contract and return the phones with no penalties so I am shopping around for another carrier.

I had been with Alltell for about 12 yrs, once Verizon took over things went downhill. I moved to a new location and wanted to change my number. I was told that I could not keep my same plan and change the number by a customer service rep at a Verizon store. I went ahead and changed and went to a plan that was not as desirable as the original plan. Then after talking to a phone rep, I found out that I could have kept my plan and changed numbers. The moral of the story, Verizon reps don't know what they are doing and telling customers. I am stuck in a 2 yr contract now, and I will be leaving Verizon as soon as my 2 yrs are out.

If you are looking for coverage you can't get better than Verizon. But if you are looking for a reasonably priced plan or any measurable amount of decent customer service, run as fast as you can. To add insult to injury, when they respond to an issue you have logged via their website, they consistently end the message with a sales pitch.

Switched from Sprint to Verizon..I understand the differences in network size, but unfortunately that hasnt been a positive experience for me. Prices are ridiculous. Can hardly make and receive a call consistently inside my apartment as in many areas I work in (405,malibu,manahattan beach). Device has been swapped 5x in the last 3 months I've had Verizon. The internet experience just isnt as consistent regardless what test they posted on their site. It just hasnt worked for me. Moving back to Sprint in September.

I had cell service with Alltel for over 10 years - and was very satisfied with the service and the phones. Verizon took over Alltel, and it's been all down hill since then. I have been lied to by customer service agents, and when I suggest that they listen to their quality control recordings they tell me that "that's for quality control..." Yes, and being lied to by your agents isn't a quality issue?? Our local Verizon people are wonderful, unfortunately the company they now work for is horrible, so I will be taking my business elsewhere.

Although their prices vs service are quite high, my dissatisfaction relates primarily to the way phone hardware problems are handled. A company should stand behind their devices. I opened my 5 month old flip phone and the top half popped out of the hinge area. It still worked fine. I called customer service and they advised not to try to fix it myself (pop it back in) because it would be deemed "user damage" (he told me that his call just prior to mine was for the same reason). I sent it back and was sent a factory refurbished replacement. I then received an email stating that I have been charged $ 99 for the replacement "refurbished" phone due to "user damage". I spoke with three customer service reps who were "very sorry" for my problem. I was told that I CAN NOT return the refurbished replacement for a $99 (or any other) credit and reactivate my older phone that worked fine prior to my upgrade only 5 months ago. The one I sent in can't be returned to me. I was told to use their trade in site to get some $$ back (a coupon for sending your old phone in to use towards another). Using their trade in site, I was told that my replacement (5 month old model) has " 0 " value! I then tried to find what the cost would be to upgrade to a different phone. I am free to purchase a new one at full retail pricing. Be very careful with your hardware. Unless it doesn’t power on at all, try to fix it yourself before sending it in because chances are, it will be the result of user damage. Other than the hinge, my phone was flawless in appearance - looked brand new and was only 5 months old. Their service reps are polite. But, heads up. For any reason other than the device not powering up at all or a bad battery, don’t look for a warranty or responsibility for the device you purchased. The device I sent back? Will probably be popped back in and sent out for another $ 99.

I purchased two new Droid X phones from Verizon in late January, 2011. After approximately 90 days, one of the Droid X phones began turning off and eventually could not be re-started. I contacted Verizon customer support and they immediately agreed to send a replacement phone. When the phone arrived it was a "refurbished" Droid X. Note, in Paragraph 1, that I purchased a "new" Droid X phone. The "refurbished" replacement phone arrived in 24 hours. However, it also did not work. It could be powered up; however, it immediately went into a "re-boot" loop and would not stay on. I again contacted Verizon customer support and they again said that they would send a replacement phone. I advised them that a "refurbished" phone was unacceptable because I had purchased a "new" phone and that I expected a "new" replacement phone. The representative adivsed that he could only send a "refurbished" phone and that I could contact the cell phone insurance company, pay my deductible, and receive a "new" phone. I feel that this is EXTREMELY poor customer service. My Droid X is not 1, 2 or 5 years old. It's less than 3 months old and should have immediately been replaced with a "new" and operable Droid X.

I called Verizon regarding one of their computers back in January. I was debating whether I bought that or an IPAD. The rep at that time was really nice and helpful and told me I can try it for 15 days see if I like if not send back. So that obviously helped, however he failed to mention that if I did return it I would be CHARGED $75.00 RESTOCKING. I would have never tried it if the REP would have been honest and disclosed it. I talked to CS and even though I have been their customer for over 10 years and never ask them for anything they said SORRY. I think they should not be sneaky they should listen to my phone order to see nobody disclosed that info and be HONEST by crediting my account.

I needed a new cell plan because the company I was with was discontinuing the plan I was on and I needed modifications. I bought a Verizon plan in good faith believing the salesman at his word. I chose a phone that was advertised as no data plan required, my wife saw the ad, the salesman told me no plan was required. Imagine my dismay when I received a bill for the maximum data plan they had. I called and was told I needed to have a data plan with that phone. I was flat out told that the phone I had needed a data plan even though the company had told me and advertised that phone did not need a plan. At that time I was still within the time frame that I could have changed phones to a non data phone but did not. The woman who helped me change the plan to the cheapest one told me it would cost total $15.00 a month. It didn't. It cost $15.00 per phone for a total cost of $45.00 per month. I was told originally that the tax would be about $15.00 -$20.00 per month total for the plan. It is 3 times that. I filed a complaint and received a phone call from a rep. I missed the first call, he left a message stating he would like to work a phone trade with me. I called him back and he did not answer. I left a message letting him know I called. He returned the call the next day and left a message saying he could not do anything for me and I was stuck with it. I believe Verizon to be dishonest in their business dealings, they cheated and lied to me until I was out of the return policy time, they have done everything possible to make sure I was sucked dishonestly into a bad situation. As soon as I am able I will be leaving Verizon. I only hope that the ATT T-mobile buyout will take much of their business. I will do everything I can to let people know how I was treated and discourage them from joining Verizon. I was with T-mobile and was delighted with them. My changing needs simply necessitated a change. Here is a link among others to another Verizon customer with a similar problem: http://www.mathyooo.com/2011/02/verizon-first-they-lie-then-they-just.html Meantime, here I am stuck with a stupid plan from a dishonest company. If you are considering Verizon, run away very fast.

The phone I have is a GLOBAL smartphone purchased for the purpose of use internationally. It is a Blackberry and requires a data package for it to work. Without notice Verizon changed its plans and no longer offers unlimited data internationally AT ANY PRICE! They say this is to stay in line with other companies, however this is not the case. The present plans are based on Megabyte usage (which the consumer can not control because it depends on the website opened and the graphics displayed...so it is not like a phone call you can time for say 10 minutes). The largest plan that they have is for $100 for 70 MB. After that you get hit with overage charges to the tune of $5 per MB. This should be illegal because they can reach in your pocket and take hard earned money without you having any control over how it is spent. If someone emails you something it will eat up your MB usage even if it is SPAM. NOW TO COMPARE AT&T has a plan for $199 for 200 MB with overages at $2.50 ish per MB...so how can Verizon say they are changing to be "in-line" with other industry standards. Apparently they do not consider AT&T to be industry standard. My complaint is that they are not considering ANY of my recommendations after being a customer with them for over 20 years!

Verizon is horrible! First, they sold me a used phone! Then proved several times over that they have horrible customer service. They never did give me the new phone that I bought when I got my contract! I have had several dropped calls. The phone is falling apart and a piece of crap. You are paying out of butt, for a phone, and service that does not live up to what they offer. I am switching as soon as my contract is up!!

Verizon doesn't have 1. Conferencing 2. Good Signal Strength 3. The call quality is poor 4. There are too many dropped calls 5. Cannot change our own phone, which means no SIM card and hence cannot be changed. 6. High plan rates 7. Worst Consumer satisfaction and they tell lies that they cover more than 90% of USA, and Rule the air... 8. No good phones to select

My family has been customers of Verizon for at least 6 years, and we're getting completely tired of them. The service areas for Verizon are extremely unpredictable. In a rural area where we used to live we had service, but in a populated area where we live now, we have to go out in the yard to talk on the phone. It also takes me 10 minutes of walking around my house looking for a signal to send a text. We have been told that it's because the closest tower to us is about a mile away. Other people who have different service providers who have been to our house have no problem getting service. Also, I attend college in Brownwood, Texas. Anyone who has Verizon here can't text or use data services. According to a Verizon employee, AT&T "blocks" Verizon's data use in this town, but I've also been told by a Verizon employee that it's because Verizon has no towers out here, so it uses Sprint's towers which don't allow data to be transmitted to Verizon users. I have a problem with this situation not only because it's frustrating to not be able to use the full capabilities of my phone, but also because I've apparently been lied to by at least one Verizon employee. Also, every time I complain or try to seek help about my problem, I'm sent in a circle of tasks. First, I'm told to update my software then call *228 (which doesn't even work here), then I have to call customer service, then I have to call them from a landline, then they tell me that there's nothing I can do but take my phone to a store to be seen by a sales representative. Then it stars over again. The sales representatives always find a way to give me false hope about my phone being able to text while I'm at college, but it never turns out to work. The weirdest thing about this situation is that my friend who had Alltel (which was bought by Verizon) can still text and use her data services. She's even had a phone upgrade with Verizon, and she can still use data. It's so frustrating to have to deal with this problem because people try to text me, but it simply never gets to me. It doesn't tell them that it's not getting to me which is the worst part. It makes me look extremely rude and unprofessional. I would highly recommend anyone who is interested in Verizon making sure that they will have coverage in any area they are planning on using it. They may say that their coverage map is better than AT&T, but as an experienced customer, I would beg to differ. Also, other wireless companies seem to have a better idea about how to run their stores. At Verizon, I had to sit around numerous times waiting for someone to pay attention to me at all. But at AT&T, an employee had a list of customers in the order they arrived, so at least there was contact with someone to show me that I would be helped when a new sales person opened up. At Verizon, I felt like I was waiting around for no reason because no one acknowledged my existence.

I have been very unhappy with the cost of our wireless phone service. I am currently having a dispute over $4.00 worth of web access charges that I feel are being billed in error and Verizom will not credit my account. Mind you, I spend on average $250.00-$300.00 for my family plan. I am thinking about cancelling my service even though I know they will hit me with a penalty charge. Now, they won't even call me back. Terrible customer service!

I have a regular Verizon plan and have no complaints, so much better than Sprint. I went to a Verizon store and told them I had heard about a pre-paid plan where you have no monthly fees and that you just add minutes as you need them. I wanted a phone for my husband for just emergencies. We had been paying $15 a mo., our share of a family plan, and in five years he had probably used a total of 15 min. To make a long story short I was told I could buy a phone for about $30, which included 10 min. Pay .99 a day whenever the phone was used, pay the activation fee but there was no monthly charges. Ideal, even bought $40 worth of extra min. Now, 6 months later we've been told that not only have we lost $47 (he used 3 min.) but we have a choice of paying $15 a month or $30 for three months for validation. Pretty much what we had before. Be aware, their prepaid plan has a "validation" date, you'll end up spending more than a basic plan. The sales person didn't mention that. Customer service very nicely explained, apologized for the rep not understanding the plan and. So sad so sorry. Leaves a bad taste.

I use the Straight Talk prepaid service which uses the Verizon network. The network coverage is simply the best in the States. There is no other carrier that can boast of a better or larger network. With Straight Talk I get the benefits of being on the best network but at a much lower price. Whereas Vzn charges $70 for unlimited talk and $90 for unlimited talk and texting, Straight Talk only costs $45 for unlimited everything! Yep, that's right - unlimited talk, texts, data AND free 411 calls too. This must be the best deal in wireless at the moment.

Verizon was the best carrier we've ever had. There was coverage everywhere we went and I never lost service once. But with this awesome coverage comes the ridiculous pricing for a family plan. Customer service was awful because we had added an unlimited texting plan but it was never truly added. So the bill like AT&T was outstanding. We will not be trying Verizon again. We will be looking at T-Mobile for the pricing and coverage in our area or Sprint for new coverage in our area and region.

I have been with Verizon for about 2 years now and I came from Cingular before it was AT&T. Verizon is much better that Cingular was. The reception is great. I haven't found a place I could not get good reception yet. Customer service has been more than great. I would highly recommend Verizon to anyone.

I've had Verizon for less than a year, but I love their service. I've never dropped a call and I've never been overcharged on a bill. Customer service has been excellent. My parents and my brother have Verizon and also have no complaints. I have several coworkers who swear by Verizon. The only issue I have with Verizon is their phone selection is lacking and the ringtones and ringback tones are a little too pricey. I've been with other cellphone companies and to me there is no comparison.

I've had Verizon for seven years and don't really have any major complaints. Their coverage is superior compared to others I've seen and I know people who either have Sprint, T-Mobile or AT&T. Their customer service, in my experience, has been pretty great. A few years ago, they overcharged me for over a year, and when I finally caught it, they immediately credited me. I was pretty shocked to say the least, but the fact remains that they did it in the first place. The only complaint I have is that their phone selection is lacking.

The Verizon Wireless "Nationwide Select Family Share 700" states unlimited text, picture messages, etc. However, I still pay data fees for picture messages. When I asked Verizon, they tried to spin it around, but I got her to agree that regardless of what is "unlimited", I still pay money to send a picture message. So I can send unlimited picture messages, but I pay to do so. I have the Motorola Q9c on a pay per use data plan. I am thinking that I am sort of "punished" for this because I bet if I had a regular camera phone, I could send picture messages for free and not be charged.

I switched from Cingular to Verizon Almost 2 years ago because I had to have the GPS VZ Navigator which I still love but it's $$$ and there are too many things about Verizon that are completely annoying which I will list: 1. No rollover minutes. 2. They nickel and dime you for everything: a. $2.99 ringtones (which are CENSORED) (and re-purchase if you upgrade phones) b. $9.99 per month VZ Navigator, plus data charges. c. $7.99 games (which you lose if you upgrade phones) d. $1.99 per month ringback tones 3. Can't send music or sounds over text message. 4. Can't use mp3's as ringtones or alarms. 5. Horrible coverage - dropped calls and low bars on The Strip in Las Vegas. 6. New LG phones have less features than the old ones. 7. New LG VX8350 and ENV2 phones have no flash. 8. No internet access except to Verizon's site (costs an extra $14.99 per month).

I've been using Verizon for probably 5 years now. I used to travel all over the United States for work - NEVER had a problem. The only place my phone won't work is in Boston in the underground parking lot of the hotel I stayed at... I can't fault them for that. I get maybe 1-2 dropped calls a month. My calls always go through - call quality is the best I have ever seen. I have used Sprint and T-Mobile in the past - there is NO comparison - Sprint had TONS of dropped calls, T-Mobile was poor call quality. The only drawback with Verizon is that you pay for what you get, you get premium service for a premium price. I'm starting to wonder if there could be an acceptable trade off if I switch, I could handle slightly worse service if it meant saving a bunch of money.... I have to say though, my Verizon phone works about as good as a hardwired land line. I also always recommend LG phones, the phone is going to determine the full benefit and quality of the service. Verizon customer service has always been pretty good - you don't get 24 X 7 customer service - BUT YOU WILL NOT get India when you call them!!!

Customer Service center gives you a different excuse for whatever problem you are having with the phone whenever you call in...they never actually fix the problem.....my blackberry pearl is one of many that are just plain manufacturer lemons as blackberry rim said themselves...but instead of just replacing my blackberry like sprint would have done...they keep proposing solutions to why my phones having operational errors... finally my phone's usb outlet stopped working so my phone couldn't charge. Not til then did Verizon finally send me a replacement phone...but because they waited i now have to order a 50dollar special type of bluetooth adapter just to upload my blackberry's info to my computer in order to send it to my new blackberry. I've spent 3 hours today on the phone with customer trying to get the bluetooth adapter to work only for them to tell me i need a different one... but it doesn't end there... I called Verizon shortly after purchasing my phone in November to ask if i can get a new rebate form since i lost the rebate receipt. they said i can just go to the Verizon store and have one printed out...i wanted to know much time i had to to this and the customer service agent on the phone double checked and said I have till March...I thought wow that's generous amount of time. well February came around and i went to the Verizon store to get a new rebate receipt printed out after i showed them my purchase receipt. The store manager said that i only had through December.... Well, Verizon's rebate center didn't care that they made the mistake by telling me the wrong rebate deadline . I missed out on my $50 rebate because of their mistake. That totals to be nearly $100 dollars Verizon is costing me because of their horrible customer service... Nobody is on the same page over there Nobody. Its absolutely ridiculous and I am tired of having to call Verizon at least once every week with issues. They are taking advantage of the fact they have the most customers over other cell phone carriers so they think they can take advantage of that when it comes to customer service. I can't wait to switch back to sprint!

I had a horrible experience with Verizon Wireless. I was a customer for 1yr when I bought a Palm Treo from them. I added unlimited picture messaging, but they charged me for data usage when I sent/recieved pictures because of the type of phone I bought. At no time when I bought the phone was I told that Treo users would be charged data kilobytes for picture messages. I called the company to tell them they were violating their own Terms of Service. They did nothing and continued to charge me every month. Instead, they wanted me to upgrade to a Data plan. I would not recommend this carrier if you have a palm Treo phone ... or if you want an honest, ethical phone company.

We use sprint/Nextels at work, and they are the pits. They have no coverage, and my Verizon does. I also use the Verizon broadband cards. Sweet... Every place I go I have coverage. We are rural out here and so coverage is an issue. We are not in the middle of a big town that is bristling with microwave towers for cell phones. I don't get dropped calls, (sorry at&t but moving out of service is a dropped call) and my family all have the phones now. It is great to be in contact at fairs, events. Can hardly wait to get the new en-v and have real bluetooth abilities...

I have been on this planet for over 50 years, and have never been treated and spoken to so shabbily as I was this past week with a fellow at Verizon. I was out in the woods, camping, with thunderstorms and tornado warnings everywhere. My service was cut off without warning, after having made a payment on extremely high unexpected overcharges. When I contacted customer service, and spoke to them about the situation, it was literally, a "tough luck, that's your problem." I will switch carriers and will be more than happy to pay a termination fee. I will also tell everyone I come into contact and our cps teachers' union about my experience.

I have had vz wireless for approx. Two and a half years. The first year was great but suddenly it was problem after problem. Dropped calls constantly, no signal, couldn't make calls or send text messages, etc. I have been calling customer service and filing complaint after complaint for the past 8 months and every time I call, I am told something different. First I was told it was my phone, then I was told that they are having problems with the one tower, and so on... I'm sure you get the hint. Well, my contract came due and I got a new phone with the hopes of my service being better. Well, no luck. I called and called again - finally they told me I am located in a "low service area" and I fought with them until they told me I can get out of my contract without paying the $175 fee. The only problem now is that they won't put that in writing for me... Looks like they are trying to screw me... Watch your back with this company!!!

I am extremely disappointed with the phone and service I have received with Verizon. First of all, I bought an extremely expensive palm Treo, and I expect it to work. I should have known things were not going to be good from the beginning when it took almost 2 hours in the store to activate an account for me. Then, there were "technical difficulties" with the oh so expensive phone and the voice mail wouldn't activate, after spending another several hours with the poor customer service rep on the phone. I then had to return my phone to the store and wait for them to ship in another one. I kindly asked them to call me when the phone was in, which they never did, but claim they spoke to "someone" to let them know the phone had arrived. Sorry, but nobody answers my cell phone but me!! Now, the internet fails to find the modem, and they want me to send my phone in again!!! I have only been with Verizon for six weeks, and I hate it!! The customer service is horrible, nobody in the store or over the phone knows how to help, and when complaining for my poor experience, not even a "sorry for the inconvenience..." I do expect my phone to work, employees to be knowledgeable and know how to do their job, and for people to be polite, all of which Verizon has failed at.

I bought the lg v phone as soon as it came out. I continually experience dropped calls. In the beginning Verizon's customer service used to answer very quickly, but that has since declined. In addition, repeated phone calls about reception and dropped calls usually receives the token response of whether I want to upgrade my phone. FYI- I've had Verizon for 5 years and 3 phones during that time, it hasn't changed much. Once it was suggested to me that I send a code to Verizon's center every time I experienced a dropped call (that's not my job). I was also given the explanation that my closest cell tower was broken, it still hasn't been fixed then. Lastly, I have been offered a 25 dollar credit, which is a nice token...but still doesn't fix the reception. This does not even mention the fact that they locked my phone w/ a software upgrade, so that they could continue to nickel and dime me for services that should be free.

I've had Verizon since late 2003. I didn't have a cell phone before then. I went with Verizon because they had a good rep. I think I made a good choice, because their service is really good, and I've heard bad things about their competitor's (Cingular/at&t) service. However, as of late, Verizon's prices are going up, and they don't offer low minutes plans. I have a family share plan with my fiance and we mostly only call each other and the extra minutes only add up to about 300 every month, maybe even less now that we have "in" calling and lots of our friends have Verizon, and now the lowest plan they offer is 700 minutes. They also don't have a very broad selection of phones, not as broad as Cingular/at&t. I had considered switching, but good service is the most important, and Cingular/at&t costs about the same anyway and has bad service. Cingular/at&t phones also interfere with other electronic and audio equipment.

I have used US Cellular and now Verizon. Can't say I have been pleased with either one. Contract ends in July and will try another provider. There has to be one out there that is reliable. I am continually dropping calls and there has been times when messages get lost in space and finally appear a week and even two weeks later. Go figure that one out! I contacted my daughter on Easter Sunday to tell her what time to come over and two weeks later she get the message. Customer service is ok. Not the greatest but better than cellular.

I love Verizon wireless. I have had, Nextel sprint, Cingular, and have had nothing but problems and lies from all other wireless carriers. Verizon has been the best. I bought the 8830 blackberry world edition and have had nothing but wonderful phone calls. I have never had a dropped call, and their customer service is excellent. Since then, I have bought another phone for my business, PC wireless card, and a phone for my wife. Also my parents who have a family of 7 have all switched to Verizon wireless from sprint/Nextel. They have been great

I have had Verizon wireless for a long time and for the phone service and coverage I am very happy. My only problem with this company is their customer service. My wife and I have a family share plan and she pays for insurance on her phone. Well she washed her phone. They have sent her a phone with no problem but did not send a battery. The phone was completely submerged in water. It's a no brain-er that the battery was dead as well. We pay so much to have these phones every month and we sometimes pay a pretty price for the phones we have because they go out of style very quickly. I think that it's pretty bad that a multi million dollar company can't give up a battery after all since we're paying for the insurance on the phone and the battery is a part of. I have had this problem before with Verizon wireless. They are fine until you have a problem with your phone then they back off and don't want to help you out. They just want their money.

I have used the old AT&T, tried Sprint, and always came back to Verizon. Their service is dependable. The customer service could use some improvement, and their billing is fine until you have a problem, but probably no worse than the rest. They seem to all use the automated service that wastes a lot of my time. We lost a phone, and it took 20 minutes to get a live body and get the service suspended. They don't offer a good plan for me, as we are forced into more time than we could ever use.

I have had very bad experiences with Verizon. We have had one of the phones replaced 3 times due to dropped calls. Verizon even did a check on our nearest cell tower it was so bad. I sometimes have to make 3 to 6 calls to finish a conversation and it doesn't make any difference if I am at home or elsewhere; whether I am calling another cingular cell or land line....still dropped calls (even calling Verizon)! Verizon's answer is "it is the phone", but wouldn't let me get a different phone or upgrade this one even with paying the difference. This family has serious medical conditions and needs reliable phone service...my contract is up and I can't wait to get another carrier!

I switched both my phones (my wife and mine) from Cingular to Verizon. I cost a lot of money because we had to buy out our contracts, but it was worth it. Cingulars' service had been going downhill for a while and when it became the new AT&T it really went down. Their ad about less dropped calls are just not true and the reception was horrible. There is a reason Cingular is rated really low and Verizon is rated really high and now I know what that reason is ... Verizon has a good all around service and Cingular doesn't. I highly recommend Verizon to someone looking for a better cell phone service.

Verizon sesrvice is just fine. I dont have many dropped calls. However, their constant nickel and diming of myself and my company is unforgivable. They are constantly screwing up the billing and adding new charges. When upgrading a plan all sorts of charges get applied even if you specifically tell them what you want and what you do not want. It takes MONTHS to straighten it out. In their defense they generally refund such charges but only after you take time out of your day to sit on hold waiting for them so you can plead your case. Literally every month since upgrading my plan in November I have had to call about one charge or another. Even the small charges add up. I think they figure they can overcharge every one of their customers at least $1 per month they can make millions and who wants to call and complain about a dollar?Think about it before going to Verizon.

Verizon is just a shade better than the Nextel crap my company foisted upon us all. Dropped calls while driving through Indiana, Illinois, Missouri, Arkansas, Oklahoma and Texas were so frequent as to make the phone nearly useless. rnAbout the only thing I did like about the phone was the ability to assign certain ringtones to individual clients. Made it easy to identify who I needed to call back, since most of the time, the Verizon service wouldn't let me talk and I had to resort to using my Cingular phone.

I was with Verizon for almost 4 years. I never had a problem with Verizon until I lost my phone on a boating trip last October. Since then, I have been totally hosed with technical billing issues with their "Auto Pay" system. Auto Pay would bill my credit card with worry-free problems until I suspended my account to replace my lost/stolen phone. Since then, I have dealt with well over 12 to 15 calls over the past three months to customer service to reinstate Auto Pay. Verizon's Auto Pay no longer works as advertised for me. After 132 "I'm sorry" statements from Verizon customer service reps, the 2 unreturned manager calls and the 3 unreturned follow-up calls to me from the "I'm sorry reps," I canceled my service. It took two days of explaining to Nick the manager out of the Tampa, Florida, call center to terminate my contract, waive the late fees, and eliminate the $175 termination fee. Be aware that some Verizon customer service reps are not properly trained, informed, and sometimes unprofessionally rude! Verizon seriously lacks standardized information to their customers. If you ask Verizon's customer service "I'm sorry" staff the same question to several reps over a given time, you will get totally different answers every time. So, good luck and be careful if you still pursue Verizon as your provider. I never take the time to write reviews about anything, but I feel obligated to inform the public about what I went through with Verizon. Therefore, I feel that I should help prevent other unsuspecting people from going through what I went through.

After finally making it through the line of automated menus, and I get to talk to a person, usually that person's reaction is to transfer me to another department, without explanation, generally the department from which I was just transferred. When they tell you something, whether related to the technical capabilities of the phone you are buying from them, something related to billing etc, it usually turns out to be untrue. At the end of a service call in which you express a problem and you need to persuade them to fix it, they still invariably try to sell you an additional service at the end of that service call. Avoid this company if at all possible.

I have been with Verizon for 4 years now and have no intention of trying another carrier. Some of my friends use other carriers, and I will be the only one that can get reception in many locations. Also, their carrier will drop calls while we are talking. They all complain about theirs, but I have been happy with Verizon from the start.

This is not only the worst wireless company I have every used, but it is the worst company I have ever done business with. Period. At least 90% of the calls I make or receive either will not connect, cut out throughout my conversation, or are dropped. Verizon provides the worst customer service I have ever received. It is so bad at every location I have visited in Georgia that I wonder if they seek out rude individuals for their employees. I was asked by a sales representative if I wanted insurance. I said "no" point blank, but was promptly signed up anyway. It took 6 months of calls to customer service and visits to stores to have it removed and my money credited to my account. My husband was signed up for v-cast for a free month-long trial period with the understanding (from the sales representative) that it would be cancelled automatically when the free period ended. During that time, however, Verizon discontinued charging for v-cast anyway, but when the free period ended, not only was the service not cancelled, but we were charged for it, even as no one else was paying for it anymore. In short, Verizon is so horrible, that being able to pay $175 to escape the the contract seems like a dream come true.

Well I think Verizon is great they have alot to offer when ever I go into one of there stores I always get great help and my questions answered. I have been apart of Verizon for about two years. I have gotten 3 phones now I have a pink razor it is great has great reception and cool features. The one thing I don't like is how expensive the phones are for how little you get. For example the chocolate it is $100 for a slider phone and then you have to pay extra for the ipod as an option which they don't tell you. I also don't like if you are just tired of your phone and want a new one you have to spend $150 some odd dollars for a new plan which you probably don't need. If you can't do that then you have to wait 2 yrs so you can upgrade so you don't have to get a new plan. Well those are my two cents but overall I think Verizon is the network.

I waited and waited for a carrier to offer the Q. When Verizon offered it I signed up. The cell phone has great features but lacks the full abilities of EXCEL. I travel all across the country and world. Stateside the coverage is generally very good with great call quality. The phone works in little to no where outside the US. Though I was in Korea recently an was shocked to see the VM indicator on! I have to say that I'm deeply disappointed in the way I have been treated by Verizon customer care reps. This is not the Verizon I knew 3+ years ago (Pre RAZR). At times they've been rude and don't really seem interested in helping fix the problems by finding solutions. I don't agree with some of their business practices either. I had some issues with a bill. I called and spoke to a rep. then to a supervisor that stated he would research the problem and call me back. He did NOT research and did not call back! I called again and was connected with another rep in a different center, though polite did not remedy the problem. Called in again and spoke with yet another rep, this time they attempted to mediate the problem which was better than nothing! After mulling over the situation I called to decline their offer. Finally after another call I spoke to a rep at another call center. He completely resolved the problem. I am only scratching the surface by my statement here. It took 3 months to finally resolve the problems. I believe CDMA is a great technology, probably better than GSM. However GSM is much more developed all over the world. I was with Cingular for 2 years and never had any major problems. I sent Verizon over $1000. in just over 4 months. I sent the same amount to Cingular over 2 years! And yes, I used just as much "data" on my RAZR and made International Calls! Be careful, seems Verizon has lots of hidden charges and they're not shy to apply them to your account!!

I've been with Verizon for about 2 years now, using the nationwide family share plan. All of my bills have been correct, there have never been any bogus charges. On the few times I've called customer service, they have been very friendly and helpful, and answered all my questions. Coverage is great, no dropped calls. My husband broke his phone, and the Asurion insurance replaced it with the exact same model, brand new. Our experience has been great, we will be renewing with Verizon.

They charge a lot for their service and after that they screw you all they can. My phone broke and they would only sell me a refurbished cheap phone for $99 or "allow me to purchase any phone for full retail". The cheap phone I got is the worst I've ever had with the most horrible droped calls and static I have ever experienced. My contract is up in Feb. 07, I can't wait!

Verizon Wireless refuses to issue refund. Phone was never activated and no calls were ever made. Phone was returned to Letstalk.com and they promptly issued a refund - thanks. Yet verizon charged us activation fee and a couple of months in advance. The only thing they agreed to do is to close the account.rnBut we are responsible for all interim charges of $87.53 even though phone was never activated or used. Be careful when signing up with them and make sure you will stay with them. Or this can be a pretty expensive experience.rn

I have been a Verizon customer for four years. At first everything was great, but that soon ended. The cost of my family plan for $1500 minutes is $130 + a month. They tax you for everything. I have asked to replace my phones since they are old. They stated that I could not do so unless I paid retail price. The minimum retail price for a low model phone is $200 per phone. You would think that after being a loyal customer for four years that I could get a discount on two phones. I had no problem with a contract extension or paying the minimum $25.00 cost per phone, since I have paid for insurance every month for the life of my contract. The customer service is brutal. Forget about talking to a real person, everything is automated. I am waiting for my contract to expire so I can switch carriers and upgrade my phones. A word of advice, stay away from Verizon Wireless.

I've been a Verizon customer for at least 7 years. Because I live - and travel - in the wide open western states, I've retained analog service along with digital. (tri-mode service) I kept Verizon because they offer the best coverage of these wide open spaces. No other companies offered a contract that included long distance and roaming without extra charges, regardless of whether calls originated in their proprietary network, or were digital or analog. Now that digital coverage has extended farther in the nether areas, this may no longer be an advantage.rnrnDespite a few bumps over the years, I've been pleased with the knowledge and courtesy of their customer service representatives. They frequently go beyond basic solutions to satisfy my problems or needs. Rarely have I had to wait more than a minute or two to reach one. Between unique coverage and customer service, I've found Verizon to be tremendously valuable. I might have found a better deal if I lived in a city and only traveled to other cities. Given the constraints of my requirements, Verizon has been great!

This is a horrible company to do business with and I am a long-time customer. They sell poor quality phones with their two-year contracts and when you have a problem under warranty, they refuse to change phones or correct the problem. I went to verizon stores eight times in the first year... No satisfaction. I've purchased three batteries. And now, with two months to go on my contract, they will be happy to help if I sign up for two more years. Blackmail. Calls are always dropped, no matter where I am. Ask for help and they are just short of abusive. Buyer beware!

I travel extensively and chose Verizon based on it's coverage; however my wife has T-Mobile and it has greatly improved in the past three years. Even in remote locations T-Mobile is now open. Combined with the fact that I plan to upgrade to a Blackberry with data options, T-Mobile is so much more affordable. After being a die hard Verizon customer for 4 years, I must admit that it is time to make the switch. For all you Verizon data users, imagine a Blackberry Pearl with unlimited data and e-mail and 1,000 minutes for $59.99 a month. It's hard to beat that deal even if the edge network is only half the speed.

The Verizon call quality is always pretty good. However the customer service is absolutely brutal. Probably every bill I've ever gotten has had something wrong with it, meaning Verizon has added massive amounts of money that shouldn't be there. There only reason I gave them a two in customer service is because eventually, after hours of sitting on the phone with numerous agents, I get the problem fixed. Don't waste your time with this carrier unless you want to pay extra money.

Verizon plain sucks. I just recently traveled to Florida and on the highway I had no signal. My new wife has T-Mobile and she had full signal. I don't know what the deal is. In Huntsville at my work I will occasionally receive signal and at home to my surprise I have signal. And don't even get me started with the customer service. I get billed for all kinds of stuff that I don't even do. Also what is up with sitting and waiting for a rep for 30 mins. I don't see anything good with Verizon. I have looked and examined all the carriers and I found that T-Mobile is the best in coverage and in cost. I am going to get smart like my wife and go to T-Mobile before my contract is over because I cant stand not having signal and wrong bills. Good bye Verizon and stay away from it if your smart. The 500 dollars is well worth getting out of the contract. At last I'm free!!!

I have had Verizon for a few months and they suck! Their customer service is ridiculous, they "forget" to switch your calling plan for more minutes, so they can charge you up the ying yang. The reps are condescending and very rude. The phone itself is basic, nothing fancy, calls do drop. Compared to Cingular (which I would never go back to), Verizon is worse! Nextel, although can be costly had excellent customer service, 24 - 7. I am not sure if I want to try them, now that they have merged with Sprint.I am hearing that T Mobile is okay. Let's face it, none of them are great, but I may give T Mobile a try.save your sanity and your money, stay away from Verizon. Far, far, away.

Even though I've been with Verizon since 1998, I'm still technically considered a new customer on a two-year contract, because I was 'AUTOMATICALLY' (without verbal or written consent from me), enrolled in the 'New Every Two Years' program. Since 2002, I've gotten only ONE upgrade and now I'm stuck with hefty early termination fees when I switched to another plan to bundle all my communication needs...remember, even though I've been a customer with Verizon for eight years...these smarmy, unctuous dudes figured out a way to get more mileage out of their contracts, with or without the customer's consent. If you've got the time to constantly monitor your contractual agreement with this company, then, yes they get good ratings for a great network coverage plan, clear signals and the least dropped calls. But, every silver lining has a dark cloud and these guys pawning off 'New Every Two Years' as a good thing, only puts you in the position of never, EVER, being able to fulfill your contract and YOU will always get smacked with the large early termination fees. You'll be held hostage to Verizon forever, unless you want to play the 'get-out-of-jail-free' early termination card...but it's gonna cost ya!

Verizon was my first cell phone plan. I had very few dropped calls and I could place calls from almost everywhere. The problem lied in the bills. They overcharged consistently and never did much to try to fix their overcharging mistakes. I eventually paid the disconnect fee because I felt like I was being cheated and it felt like they were stealing my money and they didn't care at all, so long as they got their $. I'm moving on, and not going back to verizon. I don't support that kind of business. I'll take my hard-earned cash elsewhere.

Verizon Wireless Plans is supposed to have best coverage but cant get a signal in my townhome 10 minutes from downtown Richmond VA. The billing policy offers uneeded interuptions for late payments which due to our travel schedule are often. There price is relatively high for my usage. My wife and I switched to Verizon in an attempt to consolidate bills and save money - that never happened (land line and wireless are different bills). Switched to Vonage for land line and very happy. Overall very disapointed with what should be the gold standard of wireless phone service. I am switching back to an older provide.

It's been 3 1/2 years that I've had Verizon Wireless as my cellular provider. I my phone was the Motorola Razr V3c. After having numerous problems, they finally upgraded me to the Razr V3m, after they replaced me with 3 V3c's. I live in Burlington County, New Jersey and I dont like the service I get with my phone. Generally I get 3 bars, on EVDO. I don't like the Verizon Menu setup that comes with the phone, or how Verizon locks out original Motorola software. I'm still having problems with my Motorola Razr V3m. The phone freezes, the Ring Styles change from Master Volume, to Vibirate without me knowing. I dislike the Customer Service that Verizon offers. They don't treat me good, and they dont understand how my phone doesnt work correctly. I don't like their texting plans, because they do not offer Unlimited Texting like T-Mobile offers. I don't like the price of the plans that they offer either. Verizon is more expensive and I don't understand why. Their cancellation fee is cheaper than other carriers; it's only $175. I would cancel, but I'm not that satisfyied with any other carrier. If you care about customer service, and the phones that work correctly, and cost benifit, Verizon isnt for you.

"Verizon wireless, worst service and coverage I have had with any cell phone. They sold me a regional plan that didn't work even after I bought a new phone to go with it. When you go to the verizon store with a problem you mostly get blank stares from the employees, and when you call with your problem they basically say, what do you want us to do about it. If you are shopping for a cell phone company you had better stay away from this one. A good example of their signal is shown by their commercial, "CAN YOU HEAR ME NOW " that is what you will be saying a lot with verizon wireless. Or you might ask them about the class action suite for selling service that they can't provide. In short if verizon wireless were the only company out there, I wouldn't have a cell phone.

We were with Verizon for about 10 years switched to another carrier due to phone choice. Came back to Verizon 2 years ago. Main reason for coming back was price and area coverage. I was promised coverage in the areas that I traveled only to find out that much of the area did not have any coverage - traveling on major interstate for as long an hour without coverage is not good coverage to me. When I complained I was told service was being improved - later their next solution was that my phone needed to be upgraded - of along with more $$. Phone coverage is poor out of the meto area and lots of dropped calls. Just had one of the worst customer service experiences that I have ever had in trying to find out options on service. My experience is that customer service has decreased greatly and costs increased. Also, why do these carries insist on the hand cuffs of contracts after the initial 2 service agreements. What recourse is available at their end for not meeting our expectations? At any rate, I could not recommend Verizon in Western States coverage area.

Verizon does have some good plans for a big family. However; buyer beware. What the customer service people in the stores tell you is not always true! If you ever change you plan it extends the contract on ALL of you phones. I was told it didn't by someone at one of the local stores. Their customer service is pretty bad. It's hit or miss on whether you get someone good on the phone. Usually it's someone who doesn't know much. I also have a lot of dropped calls in an around the city.

I had AT&T before this phone and it was terrible. Frustrating customer service and poor coverage drove me nuts. I have definately had a much better experience with Verizon. My only complaint is that they charge so much more for the service, I guess you get what you pay for. I'm considering switching to Tmobile, but thier coverage is a concern for me. So, overall, if you want reliable coverage and decent customer service, I would definately recomend Verizon, just be aware that while your calls may be clear and won't get dropped they are expensive.

We recently switched over from Cingular. The reason we switched was because Cingular had some coverage problems in some of the areas we go. Their cost was reasonable and the coverage was fair, we just wanted more coverage.Unfortunately, even though we got coverage in more areas, the overall reception is bad. We get a lot of dropped calls and the LG phones we got are horrible. They often run out of battery well before the day ends, where we got a couple of days from our Motorola phones with Cingular. We are seriously considering eating the early termination cost and going back to Cingular.

Verizon is simply the best carrier. After dealing with T-Mobile, Cingular and Qwest, I decided to switch to Verizon. I have never made a better decision. I get great coverage, even when we go up into the mountains. Never had a dropped call. Customer service is great, they go out of their way to help.

I have been a Verizon wireless customer for 4 years. I recently have been having alot of problems with my LG phone. I called customer service and did troubleshooting and it was considered an equipment issue. THey told me i did NOT qualify for the new every two discount until november (8weeks away) and they could only give me the price of the phone at new activation rate. I cannot believe a company such as verizon having my business for 4 years can begrudge me 8 weeks. Total disappointment!!! Time for a new provider. Ya gotta love having a choice!

We have been with Verizon since Verizon was GTE Wireless (11yrs). We have never been happier with a company until approximately two years ago. We are constantly finding errors on our bill and it is always a fight with rude customer service people in order to have the errors rectified. We will be changing our plan of 11 years due to the gross lack of customer service.

Many problems with Verizon, and many other companies. I will detail two serious problems. First, my wife was to take a one month vacation to the heart of Mexico, and in order to stay in touch we contacted customer service and asked what they could do. No problem, they said we could get Mexico coverage added to our plan for only $20 extra for the time spent there. This would save us a lot of money in roaming fees, great! When she got down there, whenever she used the phone, it told her she was roaming, so we called back to Verizon and asked, they assured us that was because it was off the "normal" network, but it would be included. Good, no problems...until we got the $900 bill for (over $700 in roaming fees). THEY WOULD NOT BUDGE, not the csr, not the supervisor, and not the manager, attempted to call on three occasions and jump through the multiple hoops they asked me to jump through to no avail. Ended up forking it over. So we tried to cancel our service to find out that adding Mexico to our plan (and subsequently removing it) extended our contract for another year. We waited it out, vowing to cancel at the end of the contract. Well, we finally made it (with more headaches I won't go into, all involving similar issues with poor communication, and misinformation). At the end of the year, I found out that they had extended it for another year when I had gotten a new handset (externally) a few months prior. Unbelievable! We cancelled the service in Jan 2004, paid the hefty $250 fee (2 phones), and kissed cell phones goodbye. We haven't had one since, and I don't plan to until a more trustworthy company comes along (if ever).

For anybody thinking of switching to Verizon... DON"T!!! They are horrible!! From their coverage to their customer service. They are rude and they overcharge!! I paid $50 plus $109 for my monthly bill just to use my phone while I was in California making local calls to another phone on my plan. So I paid an extra $50 even when I wasn't calling long distance or roaming!! That is complete BS!! I will never sign up with verizon as long as I live!! T-mobile hear I come!!

My biggest gripe with Verizon is not the actual coverage, which is not bad as long as you are in the open (in-building coverage is terrible everywhere I've gone). The biggest problem I have is how they deal with customers. Recently they changed their policy so that if you make any adjustments to your calling plan you MUST sign up for an additional year of service. This is an OUTRAGES policy. The whole justification for even having a contract at all was because they were discounting the phone so much that they needed to lock you in for a certain amount of time to make a profit. If I change my plan, they have NO justification to make me re-up my contract. The customer service people were inflexible and rude. Also, call quality has ALWAYS been bad since I have been with Verizon. I tried a Cingular phone recently and could not believe how much clearer the call was. I'm switching to Cingular as soon as my contract is up!

Verizon continually overcharges me and keeps refusing to credit my account, even after one of the operators said that I would be credited but would have to wait for the bill first. This service plan is a rip off.

My husband and I have been with Verizon Wireless for 1 1/2 years. We are having problems with our phones because they are both broken and we have no insurance. We also switched our plan last year from 500 minutes to 700 minutes when they told us we could switch back anytime. But, a couple months later, when we wanted to switch back, the plan was unavailable. So now, we pay for 700 minutes but only need 300. The service is good most of the time.

Overall, I find that I get no reception at my house in the north end with Verizon Wireless, but if I drive two blocks away suddenly I can make a call. I did climb Pikes Peak the other day and found service there. Customer service was impressive since they did help me acquire a new cell phone easily. Perhaps Verizon Wireless should spend less on the marketing and more on towers for quality.

Verizon is absolutely terrible. I had tmobile before and had problems with reception, so since Verizon advertised the best network that is everywhere I figured that was an obvious choice plus a got a free camera phone. Worst mistake of my life. I'm lucky if half of my calls go out. And it's even worse for people to get a hold of me, either I have no signal or the call drops five mins in. I call cust care, tell them I may cancel, they don't care. Verizon in overpriced, overrated, and they care about their customers, no wonder they try to hook you into such a long contract they wouldn't make any money if they didn't.

I carry a cell phone strictly for business or emergencies. In a recent emergency I was able to make two calls out. No other calls went through. And it was not until two days later that I discovered that I had seven messages from people responding to my calls. My phone never rang, nor did the "message received" icon appear. This caused a great deal of inconvenientce for a lot of people, and could have been downright dangerous if the situation had been dire. I think the FCC needs to put the squeeze on the cell phone industry.

I have been with Verizon wireless since 2001. I like the coverage and customer service, but in in comparison with other wireless carriers I find this company to be high in their prices. Maybe some rollover or early evening start time can help. If the customer goes over the minutes, that is overage, and it can be very expensive. I like to research to see what else is more affordable.

We had our cell phone for a little over a year when we started having problems with it just dying in the middle of a phone call. When we took it into the Verizon store they claimed it had "water damage". We are really careful with our cell phones and talked to them about this, yet they insisted it was water damage and said even if we left it in our car overnight it could have gotten damage that way. In two more visits to the store we heard representatives tell two other clients the same thing. The cell phones are horrible and the customer service is actually "no-service" at all. They are not out to help or keep their clients. We are switching cell phone carriers along with other family members who have also had problems with Verizon and experienced the same poor cell phone quality and customer "no-service". I would never recommend Verizon to anyone that I liked.

Verizon has horrible customer service. DO NOT GET A SERVICE plan, they suck. I had my cell phone for less than 3 weeks and it started working funny so I called Verizon and was instructed to take it to a store. I did, I was told my cell phone had water damage and it was my fault. Please understand MY PHONE NEVER GOT WET, the tech said it could be "humidity from the weather". I asked why is that my fault and the answer was because you do not have insurance. My mistake. I paid my termination fee and moved on. I believe you should stand behind your product.

I have been a Verizon wireless customer since 2001. I like customer service a lot. I got some overage charges in some of my billing statements. These overages had a material and financial adverse effect on us. Now I call to do that thing they say, "you have the option to change to any plan any time to avoid overage. Well I am researching information about other cell phone carriers, and honestly I am horrified about the reviews I read. The ones considered are worse. I had two chances to switch but I did not do it. Now I have a 2 years contract. I never had any dropped calls, and my children had very few. So I have to hang in there for 2 more years, right? Well, I wish Verizon had early evening hours like sprint. In Puerto Rico Verizon has 7:30 evening hours. Also they should give their customers free minutes, unlimited calling on Mondays from 12 midnight to 6 in the morning, and extend the morning hours to 7 am like Cingular.

I've had Verizon for 2.5 years now and they have been consistent. Consistently bad that is. I had a customer service rep in India arguing with me about a credit for ONE MINUTE. The phone I got (an Audiovox) stinks and I have complained forever about it and they finally offered me a new phone that looked like it came out of a box of Cracker Jack. Or I could pay $300 for a new one or sign a new two-year contract. It was the worst of times, to borrow a phrase. Like most others who have Verizon, VM messages seem to pop up any time in the two days immediately after a person left the message. They are the most expensive network and they are NOT worth it. I hate getting treated like dirt by their uncaring reps. My contract is up in three weeks and I am outta there, if for no other reason that the cost of churn is the only real way we customers have to show them what they have been showing us (churn is the high cost of customer turnover). For what it is worth, I think success with cellular service comes down to the phone you get and use. I know people from all different carriers who love and hate them but in the final analysis, the ones who get lucky and pick a good phone seem to have the best service. Do your homework and pick a phone that works instead of one that looks good.

I have both Verizon and Sprint wireless service. I have had problems with both companies, and I must say Sprint takes better care of their customers. Verizon acts like they do not care. Verizon will always try to scam you with whatever they can, minutes, roaming, fees, etc. The customer service for Verizon is plain lousy, they make you wait at least 15 minutes on the phone until you get to talk to someone and they all tell you different things and take you nowhere. If you are looking for a cell phone provider AVOID VERIZON AVOID VERIZON ! There are much better cell phone companies out there.

Verizon Wireless customer service is extremely poor. Here is my situation. I went to Verizon Wireless to increase the number of minutes and put the account in my name. I'm here looking at other cell phone services to see if I can lower my rate since my contract is up, but Verizon Wireless phone service has been very reliable for us. I almost never get dropped calls except for when hiking (gotta test for safety) -- when others with different carriers can't make any calls. Verizon Wireless by far works the best in all the tall buildings downtown and in Century City. The only consistently out area is a short strip on the freeway in Eagle Rock, but supposedly that goes for all carriers. I would love to switch and get a rollover plan -- that would save us money, but I need reliable service. So after reading reviews and speaking with friends with other carriers, I'm sticking with Verizon Wireless. That's why I've had them since before they were Verizon Wireless and AirTouch, LA Cellular I think it was called. I just wish their rates were better. I've had mostly excellent customer service. I've changed plans/cell phones quite a bit, and I've found if you call late at night the reps have the best attitude and tend to be more flexible than the reps working earlier in the day.

I've had Verizon since 2004. Contract ends in 3 weeks. Had many dropped calls, especially at my own house. Other people visited me and used their Cingular, t-mobile phones with no problem. Verizon has very poor customer service. My service was stopped w/out notice because verizon believed I missed a monthly payment. At that time I had been a customer for 4 years. I would have expected a courtesy call before turning off my phone. The error was in verizon book keeping. Last year I bought a new phone in july. 33 days later the phone stopped working. When I took it back, I was given a reconditioned phone, not a new one, because my phone was considered used as I had had it more than 30 days.

I live in a somewhat hilly area of Los Angeles and I've noticed that Verizons' claim of having the best coverage is just NOT true. Previously I was with AT&T (now Cingular?) and benifited with MUCH better local coverage. Also, I do travel a lot and have found that with other companies cellular coverage was far more predictible than Verizon. In addition, I have also noted a tremendous delay in vm message prompts when you lose and then regain signal. At first I thought this was a function of my phone. This has been constant with the several different phones I have owned (LG, Motorola, etc.) while shackled by my Verizon contract. This was not the case with my previous carreirs, at worst you reconnect/get a siginal - message prompts pop up. I guess if you live in a flat metropolitan area, with a very few tall structures, verizon may be a different story. I guess in general all cell service sucks! My wife has had contracts with Sprint and Nextel and overall we have noticed little or no difference, save for verizons poor customer service and higher rates. Where is that Apple phone?

I very much dislike verizon wireless because I had just got this phone and I can't believe I have to pay extra for things that I get free on my old prepaid phone. I also compared my two phones and I got no service anywhere near where I live or even where I work with the verizon phone, but my second phone got service everywhere. How can I talk to people with it if I can't get service anywhere near where I live? Then when I talked to the verizon people, they said it was just the phone which I don't believe and I'm not buying another phone just to find out.

I have been with Verizon for 3 years now , and if any other company had service in Vermont where my daughter is in school , I would switch in a minute . The customer service can be very good or very bad ... It's obvious Verizon as a company has no particular standards regarding treatment of the customers , it seems to depend entirely on the individual service rep you happen to get , and whether they are nice people in general or not. I have been helped by some , and lied to and and treated very rudely by others , and most often have accomplished nothing , because Verizon's policies in general are designed only with maximum profits in mind , and clearly not to benefit the customer in any way that may cost the company money. Now, I realize that everyone is the business of making money , and I don't fault anyone for doing that...but Verizon takes getting as much as possible to while giving as little as possible to extremes I've not seen in other companies...and I've been a cell user for the last 20 years. For example , a month ago I bought a new phone ( my previous one was only lasted about a year) for $150 , and after a few weeks it started shutting off by itself , functions weren't working properly , wouldn't charge up , ect. I called customer service , as the phone was under warranty , and was told that that my model had a high rate of these type of issues , and that if I brought it to a Verizon dealer it would be replaced with a new one. Sounds like great customer service...except it wasn't true. When I returned it , after 4 hours and 2 calls to customer service , it was replaced ...with a used one , and not even a new battery . So...in effect.. I paid $150 and extended my contract for two more years for a used phone that I could have bought on e-bay for $50 dollars and no contract extension . Why wouldn't they give me a new one? Because even if a phone is defective - and is under warranty, it is only replaced with a new one within the first 15 days . Company policy . And some other poor sap is going to end up with the one I returned , after they fix it enough to hold a charge. I've had 7 phones in the past 2 years ( I have 4 accounts) and have had problems with 3 of them. None of these problems were ever resolved to my satisfaction. Verizon is the most expensive carrier in my area by far , and the equipment , in my opinion , is poor by design . It is so much better for them if your phone breaks after the warranty is up but before your contract ends ....say about 18 months or so. It's a good way of forcing you to stay with them , and it seems to happen very regularly. Verizon is a very bad company to deal with , and I wouldn't advise anyone to use them unless they were the only game in town , and then just be prepared to go for a ride to cleaners .....

By far Verizon Wireless has the best coverage of anyone, you actually have a phone where they promise it... and even many places they don't... without roaming. Calls are clear and they aren't plagued by static or other harm. Service is very good, though their stores tend be be a little understaffed. However, their website makes it so you don't need to go to the store often. Verizon is also the best value in the business for those seeking moderate to heavy consistent use of a phone. Extras can get spendy, but I don't need them.

Verizon's customer service is really awful. Part of my service wasn't working when I got the new phone. It took 3 calls to customer service and one trip to the store to get it fixed. It's literally a one hour wait to even talk to a person at the store. The customer service people closed the ticket every time saying it was fixed (even though it wasn't) and never called me back. If it didn't cost so much to get out of the contract, I would be gone.

After receiving this phone I was happy until the metal adapter part at the bottom fell out and I had to return the phone. Unfortunately, their customer service store never told me I wouldn't get my phone back, so I lost every single contact I had. Although I was smart enough to buy the insurance it still didn't matter because within ten days of receiving the same new model of my phone the same thing broke. I have had two loaner phones which are never as good as your ne model and now after being gone for another 4 weeks they gave me the same model of phone. I don't know they can say that is good business! I have been with Verizon since 92, but now there are so many other companies that are competing for our business. The company I work for has all their phones with Verizon and now we are talking of switching services for such bad service. No one needs to take back a bad product when others are available.

I have been with Verizon since my first bag phone in 1991. I have had lots of issues with over billing, and mysterious extra charges on my bill, however, with one notable exception, have been able to resolve them easily with their CSR's. The one exception was a truly horrible ordeal that lasted for weeks, until I got on the phone and kept going up the ladder til I got a Supervisor who was incredible. Took care of all the problems, very nice, and, as a result, kept our business for 15 years. All of a sudden, after great service in our area, I am getting "Extended Network" on my cell phone when I am in the middle of town where I previously had excellent local service. A suggestion, get names of CSR's when you call, and keep calling back til you get a capable, nice and efficient one - they are there, you just have to hunt for them, call Supervisors and complain about the rude ones.

I have been nothing but impressed with Verizon! I have wonderful coverage, no dropped calls, and the customer service I have received has been excellent. They have gone so far as to tell me where to purchase my newer phone (before I was due to upgrade) at a lower price than at their retail store or online! I highly recommend them. I have tried other services like Cingular, T-Mobile, and Sprint. Cingular is AWFUL, Sprint is a joke and very expensive, T-Mobile was okay.

I wanted to shop around for a cheaper plan now that my 2-year contract with Verizon is up. But the only provider that offers a better deal is T-Mobile, which friends tell me has terrible coverage in LA, especially in Hollywood where I live. I have had no problems with Verizon in two years other than an average amount of dropped calls. They even replaced my phone for free after I dropped it in the sink, even though I didn't have insurance on the phone -- I just had to pay for the new battery. I think I'm going to stick with Verizon after all.

Worst customer service I have ever experienced. They advertised included features and then didn't include them, chalking it up to a "misunderstanding." Showed the store manager the newspaper ad written in plain English, and still no good. I cancelled before the 15 days were up. When I asked if they would rather keep a new customer paying them money for the next two years by helping me, or lose me as a customer altogether, they said there was nothing they would do. Good riddance

Verizon customer service is terrible both for wireless and regular phone. This company makes it clear to you that all they care about is if they get your money and the customer comes last. They are terrible avoid them if you can.

My current 2-yr contract is about to be up (less than 2 wks.). I am really perplexed about what to do after reviewing 80+ reviews here. So many seem to have experienced what I have - dropped calls and/or chopped up communications. I get horrible service from my home. I'm afraid to rely on the phone for my sole source of communication, as many now do, because it is so unreliable - especially from my home. I'm in the Atlanta area where you would think coverage and reception would be very good. I'm embarrassed when I talk with people, as it's so difficult to keep a good connection - or any connection at all. I do not use my telephone a lot, so when I do need it I would like to know I will be able to make and complete a call. I too had a billing issue or two, but I will say that the on line and telephone service experience for me has been very good. From what I keep reading here, I really am wondering what to do once this contract expires.

Verizon told me I had coverage in my area when I signed up. Two months later and a million time-consuming phone calls later...they finally told me they actually don't have coverage in my area. I had to put up with dropped calls and words cutting out for two months!

If I could go lower than a score of 1, I would. Although their coverage map looks good, it is worthless. My husband is an over the road driver and 9 calls out of 10, are dropped so we waste minutes calling through my work phone. The bills have skyrocketed from a simple plan. The batteries on the phone are cheap. My battery didn't last 6 months and when I put a claim in on the insurance, of course Verizon wouldn't honor it. They honor NOTHING. The customer service are rude and sarcastic. I have NEVER had a good experience dealing with them. These telecommunications companies have you by the you know what. I can't wait to get out of our contract. Why should we pay them to get out of a contract when they are not providing services they promised? The government needs to intervene and stop that nonsense.

Verizon coverage is a joke. I live in Richmond, VA which you will note is supposed to be well-covered. The most coverage I get in my home is one-bar. My boss, who also has Verizon, has a similar issue. Lots of holes in their service area. No real experience w/ customer service / cost benefit as I am on a corporate account.

My coverage area is great, but I could only get 100 text messages included and they would not allow me to upgrade. I had numerous problems with my phone and not a lot of help. The customer service reps, both on my phone and my actual service were not very helpful or extremely knowledgeable. I was paying way too much and not getting much in return.

This is the worst phone I have ever had. There is absolutely no clear reception. I need to step outside of my house in order to make or receive a phone call. The customer service is deplorable, as dropped calls are no big deal for Verizon. The customer service rep said "You only dropped 5 calls yesterday". All I can do is laugh and wait another year and a half to finish out my contract. I have no choice but to hold up my end of the contract, apparently Verizon does not.

You want to know why I have decided to write a review about a cellphone plan? It was about the service that worked for me when I truly needed it. I've taken my cellphone all over the country for work. The toughest region was in New Orleans. The time line? Immediately after Hurricane Katrina. Sent in the zone to cover the aftermath, I wound up being sent into downtown N.O. 3 days later. Other reporters and photographers had Nextel, or Sprint, or T-Mobile, Cingular... My Verizon phone had service. While I couldn't call locally very easily (for obvious reasons), I could call back to Baltimore. If I couldn't, I simply text messaged, which actually got through, because the service was apparently on a different kind of network. The reporter I worked with actually started using my phone, since his service didn't work in the zone. And on a few occasions, I loaned my phone to let stranded survivors call loved ones in other parts of the country to let them know that they were still alive. Sometimes, you realize how important a network is, when nature tests everything and everyone. The phone is another matter, but it actually has worked, since it was replaced when it got stolen.

What started out being a $140.00 family plan, is now between $280 and $310. Verizon customer service very rude, and could not fully explain. Cancellation fee is $175 per line x 4= $700.00. We were totally mislead when we signed agreement. We are allowed 2500 minutes, and never come close. Would not recommend to anyone.

Verizon is the only co. that I could pick up a signal where I live (which is on a mountain). The service in the verizon stores is terrible, and it doesn't seem to matter how many people are in the store. However, on the phone, customer service is very good. I have been with verizon since 2001 and wish they would do more for long term customers. They do a lot in the way providing promotionals to attract new customers, but they really don't want to help out long term customers. I am sure that is true of other wireless companies, but I wish they would be a little more concerned with keeping the good customers they have.

Their "can you hear me now" slogan was not what I experienced. Many calls where dropped. Although their customer service is polite they do not change the quality of your cell phone service. Furthermore they do not seem to be competitively priced with the competition. I have never paid as much for cell phone service as I have with Verizon

I like verizon but reception is non existent near and in my home. Customer service however is great. They've been working with me to see what the problem is even sending engineers to the area to monitor reception. They discovered very poor signal quality in the area and have offered to let me out of my 2 year commitment to go to another carrier. Trouble is, I like the company, my phone, and customer service and have read nightmare-ish reviews of other companies so I don't know which to choose.

I think Verizon is the best phone company out there. I used to have AT&T and they got the billing wrong and the customer service was terrible. When we first went to the store, the customer service was excellent. Someone shouted in the store that the service was excellent! That's pretty cool that they would do that. Normally someone would do the opposite, scream that its terrible. I get full reception in my house. Two things though. 1) Don't get the Motorola V265/V276 they stink and have many problems. And 2) They closed the store like 2 blocks away from my house! Now I have to go to Wilkes-Barre instead of 5 minutes down the road for questions. That's a pain..but they kept the tower that covered for the store. But I highly recomment this than any other provider. T-mobile- no coverage for miles in one spot..i had full Nextel/Sprint- Junk..i have full Cingular..none- i have full! AMAZING!

I've had verizon for 1 1/2 years & are stuck for 6 more months. I have less coverage than I previously had with AT&T & suffer just as many dropped calls in south/central Pa & northern Md, despite purchasing a triband phone (which never works in analog). The horrendus part is that in Baltimore, MD I can be right next to anyone on any other carrier & they will have service & I don't. That is despite updating the area on the phone, which is nearly impossible because it keeps dropping the call. Can't wait 'til this contract is up. I'll be experimenting with some prepaid phones before I commit to a contract again.

Verizon Wireless worst service I've ever experienced. My calls constantly break up to the point where most conversations are filled with "what?", "say again". If I'm driving the phone is constantly breaking up. I'm so annoyed with the service I can't stand it. As soon as my contract expires, I'm headed to Verizon. Watch out for the baloney, Cingular has the most coverage of any provider. It's simply not true. -very dissappointed.

Verizon is the best phone company ever. Not only do I get the best phone service I can find, I have there super fast DSL and voIP Internet Phone Service. They are the only company that offers so much, why can't you trust them? Everywhere I look I see Verizon on the cell phones people are talking on. All my friends have one. Except one, he has Cingular, which he never can get as much bars as I can. In my city you can get 5 bars almost everywhere, seriously, even in the basement I get 4 to 5 bars! ***Get this cell phone company!*** I recommend Family Plans! Customer service is the best, sooo helpful. I live in the country and they got DSL up there just for me!

I had Verizon wireless since 2001 and I have stuck with it ever since. The service is terrific. I'm in certain places were Cingular and sprint/Nextel subscribers are they have no service. I have full service and sometimes I am able to talk clearly on one bar. It is so great. I will never go to Cingular there phones are so cheap and UN reliable. I've only had one problem with vzw and that was the Motorola v276/v265 I would never buy that phone and I don't recommend it. Otherwise vzw is the best cellular service around and I wouldn't go any were else. They are the most reliable. In fact on eyewitness news a couple weeks ago Verizon wireless was the #1 wireless company with the best service while the other lagged behind as usual.

I've been amazed with Verizon Wireless coverage and the service quality with this phone and the network. Having come from Cingular and Sprint within the past few years. I no longer have to put up with the horrible voice quality from Cingular or the poor coverage from Sprint. The service works everywhere I've been, Having only one bar the voice quality is as amazing as with full bars ( I see those most of the time). For once I've called customer service they were friendly and quick to resolve my problem. I would say a top choice for anyone in Dallas, or Texas for that matter.

Verizon Wireless are incredibly poor when it comes to customer service and you have to go through your bill every month with a fine tooth comb or you will get taken to the cleaners! There are 3 of us in the house with Verizon Wireless service. We can't wait to get away from Verizon. The cell coverage in our area by this company is horrible. We cannot receive calls at the house and need to wait to get about a mile away to use the phones. We have had terrible problems with messages showing up days or even weeks late. Did you know that if you can verify (by the company) that the cell coverage in your area is bad that you can get out of the contract? Hope this helps!

I have 8 Verizon cell phones, including 4 blackberries, for my small business. When we added a new Razr to the account 2 new phone numbers were inadvertently assigned to it. Having caught up to the fact that I'm paying twice for one phone I asked them to cancel one of the numbers. They refused, saying I have to pay the $175 cancellation fee in order to get rid of the second number, and stop getting double billed. A supervisor refused to help, and a promised call from the supervisor's boss didn't happen. I know this sounds crazy -- but as Dave Barry says, "I'm not making this up." Small business owners beware.

Verizon is the hands down the undisputed champion of the wireless carriers. The network is the most reliable, the phones sold for Verizon service are not made to be cool, but to get the job done. The customer service is exceptional and cannot be judged by one lost, impatient, rude, and angry customer. 49,999,999 other folks love Verizon Wireless for carrying themselves like a great neighbor, and operating their business like they care about the customer and the customers problems. Reliable resolutions to all your wireless needs. Great Job, VZW! You are truly Americas Choice!

I've been with Verizon since before they were Verizon and in that time I have to say they've been pretty okay. Every now and again a call drops or I have poor reception, however, it's been minimal. Granted, I am usually using my phone in major metropolitan areas such as NYC, L.A. and Phoenix, although, when on an excursion throughout the South, it worked almost everywhere, Bayou included. Overseas: forget it, nadda, zip, zilch, zero, not even a possibility. What happened to "Globalization?" Judging by the competition, I think it's an overall good value. It has the highest user rating score on this website of 3.3 (as I write this).

If you are planning on moving to Las Vegas, NV I recommend Verizon (CDMA) or T-Mobile (GSM) for coverage. T-Mobile is usually the best value price wise, but Verizon offers Push-to-Talk (Walkie Talkie) service. I don't recommend Nextel because of too many dropped calls almost everywhere. Cingular, which has Push-to- Talk and Rollover, is usually preferable to Sprint service, but both have mixed reviews locally.

My Verizon service has been just excellent in the Northern VA/DC metro area (with the exception of some buildings and stores). I get a few dropped calls now and again, but all services have that. I do have trouble with an echo sometimes- might be my phone. It is older now and one of the cheaper models. I've had a great run with Verizon and hate to switch, but recently I took my phone to Little Rock, Arkansas (where we are moving this summer) and had horrible reception if any at all.

GOOD THINGS: For someone who travels it is worth the service all over the country. Service even in places you would never imagine. Call quality is very good. Very few dropped calls since being a customer 5 years and traveling. Have not changed carriers due to these reasons. BAD THINGS: Expensive rate plans with less anytime mins. than other carriers. High unexplained taxes $10-$20 /mos. Cust service not good. Have had to report billing errors and product plan switches to BBB to get anything resolved. Also, if you want to change your rate plan or anything of that sort you automatically agree to renewing your contract another 1 yr and they do not have to tell you.

I haven't been with Verizon very long, so far so good. I have a Samsung sch-a970 and OMG the clarity of my calls is amazing! I transferred from Nextel. I actually paid the 200.00 cancellation fee to get away from Nextel cuz they r terrible! My first Verizon bill was shocking. i couldn't believe how low it was. I was use to being ripped off by Nextel. Verizon customer service is awesome. I couldn't believe what customer service did to resolve my problems. They went above and beyond for me. I didn't have problems with Verizon I had problems cuz I bought my phone from a third party. I called Verizon and they fixed it right away for me. 5 minutes on the phone with me and I was a very happy customer. Alot of people say their customer service is terrible, but I've never had that problem. I guess it's what area your in. I live between 2 mountains and my phone will have no bars and I can still make crystal clear calls. Did you know if u have a dropped call and call Verizon they will credit it on ur bill? Well they do.I had a dropped call cuz of where I live. I think alot of the dropped calls is the phone too. My phone is awesome and I'm very, very happy with Verizon!

Plain simple, there is enough good alternative out there, for not to subscribe with Verizon, plans are the most expensive around, very seldom specials, too much unexplainable taxes. The coverage is good, but that's not the only thing about cellphones...did I mention I got numerous dropped calls during the 2 yrs period...don't recommend

Worst customer service around and recently receiving lots of dropped calls. I have been a Verizon customer since 2004. When I signed up I was given the nice feature of being able to repeatedly change my service options at no-cost and without extending my service plan. In September 2005, a Verizon representative really pushed me into reducing my minutes from 800 to 450 minutes - telling me that I was wasting money. What he didn't tell me was that he changed my minutes so that it also changed the family plan I was in and any future changes would require a new two-year contract. Had I gone to 400 minutes, I still would have been within the same family plan. Until last month, I never went over my allotted minutes. In April, I went over my plan by several hundred minutes due to work-related activity. To my surprise, my bill was over $550.00. I paid the bill, acknowledging it was my error. However, when I went to add minutes to my plan I was told that I would have to sign up for another 2 year plan. I signed up for another 2 years, but asked if they would rebate me some minutes since they made the family plan change without my knowledge and I did sign up for another 2 years at a significantly higher plan. I was curtly told that I was "not worthy" as a customer and any rebate for me would be "unjustifiable." beware - there is no such thing as customer service with Verizon!

Verizon wireless is the best one out there. I rarely get any drop calls and time to time I do get weird echo's; however, the coverage in my behalf is excellent. In addition, Verizon's warranty service is outstanding. I never have the worry about how I am going to deal with a warranty issue with my phones. Because I know Verizon has opens arms at its stores to help you get that defected phone replaced!!!!. On the side, as far as my monthly bills are concern, they never ever made one mistake. I never have the need to even call customer service.

Verizon wireless customer service is a joke. They are absolutely unhelpful. Also, Verizon will rob of you every cent they can. After paying overage fees nearly every month, my contract was finally coming to an end. I called customer service 2 weeks before the end of the contract to make sure the account was going to be closed and they said everything would be taken care of. So, I paid the last bill and moved on to a new provider. 3 months later Verizon was calling me daily claiming I hadn't paid my bill for the last few months, an account which I was told my customer service was closing, and in the end had to pay a few hundred dollars to take care of everything. Coverage was great, but not even close to being worth what I was paying for it.

We moved from issaquah to "trilogy at Redmond ridge" last year. We have always had good coverage in issaquah allowing for some dropped calls when driving west lake sammamish rd but now that we live at trilogy we have no signal coverage at all. While the entire Redmond ridge area is developing very quickly it seems Verizon could care less about adding or at least advising it's customers of plans to expand coverage. There will be over 1500 homes at trilogy before the end of 2006 and a great many residents have Verizon but weak or no reception. Other than that we have always had great service, affordability and billing problems fixed quickly and professionally. We do understand that t-mobile has excellent coverage in our area but we do not want to switch. However our contract does end April 2006 and we may be decide it is time. Hopefully Verizon can begin to inform it's customer of their expansion schedules soon.

I hate Verizon customer service! My family has had Verizon for four years and have had several phones which have quit working. Every time we take the inoperative phone in to either be fixed or replaced they blame it on water damage and make us buy a new phone. While standing in line, often times for close to an hour, I have heard them give this same response to others. We have never had our phones near water and I find it strange that this is the excuse they give us each time ,as well as to others, as to why the phones are not working. I also am unhappy with the coverage. There is only one place in my house where I can stand when I use the phone so that it won't cut out and we are in a large metropolitan area. While in Hawaii our phone had terrible service and my daughter in la can not get decent coverage on her college campus. I am looking for something better when our current contract expires next month!

Verizon wireless tries to get money every possible way - doesn't make the plans convenient or cheap. You have to keep checking the service contract dates. It keeps changing automatically. In case you don’t pay attention, it takes up more than few minutes to track the reason for the change and the explanation to the customer service rep. (add more minutes) - the confirmation promises are not kept by the customer reps. The agreement showing wrong contract date will be mailed to you number of times without your request but even after the request, the contract with correct date will be not be mailed. Current usage of airtime appears in next statement cycle and till then you won't have idea whether you are being charged for certain calls in the current cycle. Customer service rep. Would apologize for this but you will be billed. In case of more than one line service, without proper explanation, the switching of primary line to secondary line occurs for some reason and later it becomes difficult for the cust. Rep. To understand and fix the primary - secondary line usage. This may effect in your total bill amt. Significantly if you go over the allowance (-dropped calls help you go over the allowance easily.). - and they still call "America's most reliable wireless network".

I have had Verizon service for over three years. I live in a rural area and there are too many dead spaces. There are towers all around but, not here. I had always thought that customer service was very good until now. How did my number become a long distance number? No one that I talked to knows anything. Anyone that calls me from a land line in my area get charged long distance rates. Isn't that a breach of contract? Why on earth would I want a long distance number ? I'll let you know how I make out.

I've had 2 phones from Verizon. The first was a $600 smart phone which had abominable reception. I bought a second phone just so I could make phone calls! The second phone was as bad as the first. I agree with the reviewers who indicated Verizon had spotty areas of decent reception. I phoned from one site in Scottsdale Arizona to Verizon to complain about the service and lost the signal 5 times!!! Verizon says to call their service people and they will help. If you manage to get through, they say the service is fine - "I'm talking to you aren't i", they say they'll look into the problem, and you never hear from them again. Plus, they are charging me for two phones worth of service instead of one but I got the second phone just because the first couldn't actually make phone calls! Verizon's customer service is the worst I ever dealt with.

I think Verizon is unscrupulous. It markets its phones as bluetooth phones but many of the most useful bluetooth features have been stripped from the phones such as obex file transfer and push technology. The Verizon version of the Razr phone cannot send phone book data to my automobile's phone system (one of the main reasons I purchased the Razr) and Verizon hides behind so called "security" concerns regarding the disabling of these features. I think the real reason is that Verizon wants to force its customers to subscribe to get it now, a monthly subscription service, in order to transfer data to and from the phone and other devices. In so doing, transfer of phone book data to certain automobile phone systems has also been disabled. If my business and our associates were not so entrenched in Verizon's vast network there is absolutely no way I would ever purchase a Verizon product again.

Verizon Wireless Plans is the worst, most dishonest company I have ever delt with. They change the contract dates everytime you sneeze. They overcharge you and you have to spend hours and hours on the phone with them trying to sort it out.

My phone is used constantly, rather it's a text message or it's a conference call, a cellular phone to me is very important. I literally had every phone company listed on this site, but I found that Verizon Wireless is by far the BEST wireless service. I had T-Mobile, yes, their "moto" is GET MORE, I would have to agree, you get more minutes, but what good is the minutes if you have no service to use them. I got Verizon Prepaid for a little while, which was good, but it was quite expensive then. I switched to AT&T for about one year, until Cingular merged with them. AT&T was great until they merged. I never had any service in schools, or even on I-95. I suffered the dreaded 2-year contract with Cingular then I switch to Verizon wireless. What a difference. Verizon is the best, I can't remember when my phone had " no service" but I do remember when my phone started acting up and the Verizon store was so rule with me. But I called 611 and had everything settled. I Conclusion, those who are in the market for a new phone service please really consider Verizon, I mean I know the prices are a little bit bigger, but think of the quality. Would you rather pay $2 for a phone you can't use, or would you rather pay the $5 and get a phone that is reliable. (there's isn't much of a difference between Verizon and Cingular prices.)

Verizon, Verizon, Verizon... What can I say. Their service is exceptional. Verizon has friendly customer service representatives who are very professional and helpful in all types of issues! My main concern in switching over from AT&T to Verizon was the matter of reception quality. AT&T was absolutely horrible across the board with every phone that I owned. I would get more dropped calls in one month with AT&T then I ever got during the two years that I have been with Verizon; I would sometimes get over ten dropped calls per night with AT&T. Believe me when I say this, I will never go back. Verizon has my business for life as long as they keep up the great service... GO VERIZON!!!

Verizon Wireless is the BEST! I have just switched from Sprint-Nextel. I have never been pleased about the plan and service. Verizon is a positive to switch too. The reception is much better, than sprint-Nextel. The only negative factor about Verizon, is the cost, and customer service. I give the both 4. Just because of the service is much more superior, than Nextel. So, I bought the Motorola v815, for better reception, on top the best service in the USA. So, lowest 3 bars on my phone, like having 5 bars on a cheap phone. I tried my Verizon phone, in North Ranch, where my parents new home is located. The Verizon phone had 3 bars on it. I called my aunt on it, She can hear me, very clear. I had only 3 bars, instead 5 bars for the best. Remember, with Motorola v815 is the best rated phone for reception, so 3 bars on my phone is like having 5plus bars on a cheap phone. And remember 3 bar on top of the best cell service in the USA. If you want better reception, switch to Verizon Wireless is MUST! Even Customer Service and cost of the plan gets an 4, to do the superior their service is the BEST!

I'm switching from Verizon. There are too many places that don't receive coverage. I travel 45 minutes to work on I-88 and there are so many dead zones along my route what good is the phone if my car breaks down. I laugh at the "Can you hear me? How about now?" commercials because that has been my experience with this company. Prices are just way too expensive for the amount of dead zones I have experienced with this company!

I have been a Verizon customer for about 10 years. It has worked well enough, BUT there are some areas where coverage is non-existent. These areas are in Wesport, MA at a distance from 15 miles South to the ocean. Given the fact that this a high-volume tourist area with year-round residents as well, it would be expected that Verizon could provide coverage at least comparable to Nextel which does have coverage in these areas.

Verizon Wireless has nasty customer service people . They told me I had to drive to a service center 35 miles away to change my plan. They would not do it over the phone. Extremely expensive when you go over your limits. I know why they dont want me to change my plan (over $100 this month in extrea fees).

Verizon has been a good company to deal with. I've been a customer since they bought out Air-touch in the late 90's. Their customer service is excellent both in our local store and over the phone. However, I've not been happy at all since I got my current phone, an LG VX6100. I experience dropped calls nearly ever call I make or receive, yet am told there's nothing wrong with the phone. My coworkers use mostly Cingular, which I intend to switch to after my contract is up. Their Nokia phones all work and receive calls much better than mine. Sad to say, but I do not believe their 'best network' claims when I'm dropping calls constantly and my coworkers aren't.

I've been with Verizon for at least 1997 (AirTouch back then). Since all of these new services have been coming out and with more and more customers on cell services, my suspicions are that they have not added more capacity to their cell towers. Dropped calls are daily, static and interruptions constant and customer service seems to be null. We have made the decision to drop them and go with another carrier.

Almost everywhere I traveled Verizon wireless provided a really good coverage. Even the highways and the interstates are covered quite well. I never had any problems with my Motorola handset as well. Yes but the customer service I received for 2 years was horrible. There were mistakes in the bills many times and I had to sort each call on the bill and talk to the customer service people..and most of the times they were talking rudely. Although they did solve my problem at the end, I had to go through a lot of irritation and had to spend a lot a time on that. Recently I went to renew my contract and change my handset, and again the person in that store was just not interested in showing any phones and was really rude. I am sorry to say but for that reason I am surely changing my service.

I have excellent coverage with my Nokia phone and Verizon plan. Yes there are spots around the valley where I drop calls, thats very understandable, we don't live on the flat plains of the midwest. I have coverage where others can only dream of it. I have a second phone, also a Nokia but with Cingular service, and it has poor sound quality and poorer coverage. I drop many more conversations with the Cingular than I do with Verizon. I think Verizon does an excellent job!

Verizon Wireless will take your money! VZW has charged me a deposit of $1000 due to a bad credit situation. It has been a year, every time I called and asked about the deposit I recieved answers as such. Store REP Said: "6 months of on time bill payments and you'll get your deposit back automagically" 6 months later - "Sorry you have to complete a year of service before we give you your deposit back" 1 year later - "Well it's been a year, but it will take 4-6 weeks for your account to be reviewed, please call back in February. "And actually from what I see you won't be eligible for it for another 6 months anyway since in Nov, you did not pay your bill on time" [which is a falacy since I had my Verizon Wireless on AUTOPAY from their website] Caveat Emptor, The signal is okay for my area. However: A. Wireless Data product was "Flagged as Disabled" but charged for 2 months during my time of service - No refunds ($50/mo). I called when it did not work "Well since you only complained now, we're not giving you your money back" - [ I payed $50/mo for something I did not try to use (to complain promptly) that was DISABLED on the switch according to the Tech for 2 months. ] B. Don't give them ANY deposits. C. Look out for BAIT and SWITCH contract errors, VZW will try to extend, renew or give you a contract that you did not sign up for (2 year instead of 1 year) in any way possible. "Adding a Line for 9.99" Extended my primary service to June of 2007. Though original contract was for 1 year - Expired Jan 4 2006.

Verizon Wireless has the worst customer service ever! They are mean and snappy, will hang up on you, and make you wait on hold for over 2 hours. It took three weeks just to get an account set up. Partially due to the fact that they kept dropping my order, and partly to the fact that they lost records of the deposit that I had to pay. As of now I am forced to use them due to where I live. At least my signal is good...

Verizon Wireless's customer service is unacceptable. I purchased a phone from a representative who failed to include all my paperwork in my bag. She promised to mail it to me well she didn't after I called her numerous times. She promised me many times that she would do this. When I finally received the remaining information, I discovered that I didn't have this sticker you're supposed to have in order to get the rebate on the phone. She made me come back to the store to show her the box. When I did, she promised to take care of the rebate for me. Since then I can't get in touch with her, I've e-mailed Verizon Wireless numerous times and even left a message for someone at corporate headquarters. Nobody has responded. When I call customer service, they tell me to continue leaving e-mail messages. This is absolutely unacceptable. I've been a customer for well over 6 years but I'm changing. I don't care about the money I'll lose. Good riddance.

In my two and a half years with Verizon, I must say I'm not all that impressed. People talk about how their signal is so much better than other providers', but that hasn't happened in my experience. My signal drops in the same rural areas that don't work for other carriers. My college campus, which is in a fairly large city, has terrible service from Verizon. I can't make calls from most places on campus (including the entire building I live in and surrounding area), while my friends with Sprint and T-Mobile have no problem. I've contacted Verizon about this and they've hardly been helpful. They insisted that the signal there should be great as there is a tower close by... But uh, no. It does work well in many places, but I disagree with those who think they're better than other providers as far as signal strength. There have been times in rural areas when I didn't have a signal but friends with other carriers did, and vice-versa. Overall, I think the main providers are about equal. (Aside from the very poor customer service I had back with AT&T, but again, mixed reviews from all carriers.)

Ocean of change on call quality between carriers. I have switched from Sprint pcs to Verizon, and I couldn't be more happier. My friends say they can't distinguish whether I am calling from home or cell phone. I have had this service for almost a month now and I haven't had a single dropped call so far. Call reception is excellent. I gave 4 for customer service, because I didn't have to call them so far. Verizon is expensive compared to other carriers, but I am willing to shell out those few extra bucks for the high call quality and coverage. Highly recommend the service.

I been with verizon wireless for 5 years. Excellent company and excellent coverage plans and rates before I was with cingular wireless all they do is talk and no promotional give away. No matter how long someone stays with cingualr wireless its plans and features never changes. Cingular wireless does have a excellent customer services. The only bad part about verizon wireless. Customer services is not just bad but worse and very rude people If, you want a phone that will last long and excellent coverage plans and rates go for verizon wireless . Only thing you might have to bear is the customer service people working for verizon. Also, check this out. Lg vx9800 excellent phone.

For the most part, with Verizon you will have bars almost everywhere you go. But I must warn you, their coverage inside doesn't compare to their coverage outside. A problem I had was that I'd have all of my bars but when I'd make a call I'll have a hard time hearing the person I was talking to and vice-versa. After about a minute of "hellos" it would give me a message saying "call was lost". But overall, I was very happy with the service that Verizon has provided me.

Verizon is the WORST company that I have ever dealt with. I will use payphones before I use Verizon again. I cannot get a single person to answer my questions about my bill. I was charged roaming fees while in Birmingham Alabama with a coverage plan for the entire southeast. One would think that you shouldn't roam while in a city with over 1 million people in it. My local Verizon in Americus Georgia told me that the B'ham tower was down, but the 1-800 operator said nothing is wrong with the tower...two weeks after disputing the charges I cannot get anyone to reply to me...Verizon is terrible.

My husband and I are Sprint PCS customers and we've been very happy with Sprint. We've also been doing alot of research on both Verizon and Sprint and I keep hearing mixed reviews between Sprint PCS & Verizon Wireless, even though we've never had a bad experience with Sprint and even though we've never really had a problem with Sprint or their customer service or their coverage either, because we get very few dead zones with Sprint and we've only had a few dropped calls throughout our whole membership with Sprint and my husband has been with Sprint for the past 4 1/2 years now too. Verizon says they're better than Sprint and Verizon has been voted as America's most reliable wireless network as well as America's number 1 wireless provider, but I've had alot of Sprint customers who are former Verizon customers tell me that they've been happier with Sprint and have much better coverage, reception, and customer service with Sprint too telling me they hated Verizon and switched to Sprint, because Verizon gave them too many dropped calls, but they've had much fewer dropped calls with Sprint than they ever did with Verizon. On the other hand, I've had a lot of Verizon customers who used to be with Sprint tell me that they've had much better coverage and reception with Verizon and a lot less dropped calls with Verizon than they ever did with Sprint and have also told me that they were disgusted with Sprint and Sprint's customer service too, but I think Verizon is just as guilty as Sprint is in that regard. Especially with the customer service, because even though alot of people have said Sprint has lousy customer service, a lot of other people say that Verizon has crappy and atrocious customer service too, because many Verizon customers and former Verizon customers claim that Verizon's customer service was dishonest and rude and constantly gave them the run around and did nothing to help them or resolve their problem with their Verizon Wireless phone or bill either. In fact, I've been reading the wireless providers reviews and I see way more complaints about Verizon and Verizon's customer service than I do with Sprint, so maybe Sprint should be voted as America's number 1 wireless network instead of Verizon, but I personally think Sprint is better than Verizon, so maybe Verizon should redo their math or something.

I am a Sprint PCS customer and have been with Sprint for nearly 5 years now and have never had a problem with Sprint, although I am considering on giving Verizon Wireless a try when our 2-year contract with Sprint is up, but in the meantime, I'm going to continue to do research on Verizon and Sprint and see which one sounds or seems more promising between Sprint and Verizon. Additionally, Sprint gives you more minutes for less money on their phone plans, especially since Sprint gives you the choice to start your Unlimited night & Weekend minutes at 9PM, 7PM, or 6PM, which gives all Sprint customers at least 10 hours of savings Monday thru Friday, unlike Verizon, because Verizon only gives you 9 hours of savings Monday thru Friday, because Verizon doesn't start any of their Unlimited night & Weekend minutes till 9PM and end at 6AM, but Sprint's Unlimited night & weekend minutes don't end till 7AM, which gives Sprint customers at least an extra hour more of savings than Verizon customers get. I also find it kind of hard to believe that Verizon is taking a lot of Sprint customers away too, but guess what, Sprint has taken quite a bit of Verizon customers away too, so we'll see what results I get on my research between Sprint and Verizon till my 2-year contract with Sprint is over.

I have been with Verizon for almost two years now. I have had multiple bad experiences with their customer service. Today I visited a Verizon store to upgrade my phone to a PDA (I am 22 months into my contract) and the gentleman that was working there wanted to charge me $519 for a phone that they were advertising for $299 with a two year contract. I agreed to sign up for a new 2 year contract as of today and he said that I still would have to pay $519 for the Audiovox PDA Phone and that the $299 deal was for new customers only or I would have to wait until my 24 month agreement is over. TOO BAD, because as soon as my contract is over I am running away from Verizon WL; not to mention I have 2 phone lines with them that are both being cancelled in less than 8 weeks.

Can you hear me no? Of course not. It is very awkward that once the best cell phone service in the tri-state area can become such a joke. I had a Motorola phone that eventually broke, and the sales person convinced me into getting a new phone and a 2 year contract. Little did I know. The reception is horrible, it is overpriced, I want to add a line they want me to jump into another 2 year contract. a disaster. Coverage? Not very good. Dropped calls all the time. From my home T-Mobile and Cingular work nicely, forget about Verizon. Just bad. Go for a carrier that has a 1 year contract.

Verizon wireless plans coverage is good, haven't hit any dead spots yet and I live in a fairly rural area. Model lg vx6100 has horrible call quality particularly in hands free mode. Customer service seems good, but only had one occasion to call with a simple question, which was easily answered. Cost benefit is horrible, the phone is useless if you cannot hear the person on the other end. I am paying more than I did with Nextel for a similar service plan and much worse call quality. Another negative is the 2 year requirement, I will never again lock into a 2 year contract. When I was with Nextel it was a 1 year contract. I am giving serious consideration to buying out of my contract and going back to Nextel, you cannot beat the quality of the Nextel line of phones.

At first I was very proud to call Verizon my phone company, when I first signed up with Verizon, I sign a 3 yr. Contract, the phone was analog, best cell phone I ever used service was great too ! But then they started expanding and became the largest cell phone co. They suggested that I switch over and forget about analog, so I did, then my troubles began, drop calls after drop calls my service was never the same again, despite after taking my phone in again and again, unlike the analog phone, I couldn't make calls if I was inside a building,I had to go out side with this new phone, my analog phone was perfect with no troubles, I could make calls from anywhere, anytime, again I went back to Verizon and asked what up with this phone, you guys can't fix it & it drop calls like rain, then they told me, to tell the truth analog is much better than what you have, the new phones works better for the phone co. It's cheaper for them & and they can really load up their lines with more customers, anyway my problem never went away, they lied to me next, I told Verizon of my move to another state many miles away Verizon told me that I could break my contract under those conditions, so I sat down with a representative, did the paper work to cancel, she said you're all set, guest what? I moved, and Verizon sent me a cancellation bill, I called because I knew this was a mistake, but Verizon was relentless until I agreed to pay it, despite their policy, then 3 to4 months later Verizon called me at my new address and said I owed them another $40.00 and again relentless, I told Verizon I'm going to pay this bogus bill, and I'm letting you know that you have lost me as a customer forever, and as many people as I can tell about you! I'll never go back to Verizon wireless, no integrity,no creditably.

Absolutely by far the worst cellular experience I have had in the four carriers that I have used in the past 10 years. I would never recommend Verizon to anyone and anyone that calls me knows how terrible it is because I lose 80% of my calls. Not to mention I use this phone for business purposes, it is very very unreliable. I don't understand the commercials that say "most reliable network" because that can't possibly be true. I have placed at least 20 calls in to Verizon and spoke to several supervisors because that is as far as they will allow a complaint go. I have returned my phone 3 times and keep getting told that everything is fine and I shouldn't have problems. I have quite a long time to sit and suffer if I don't want to pay the 375.00 per phone cancellation fee that Verizon refuses to waive. I have had nothing but trouble since the contract was signed over a year ago and am getting no where with my complaints.

Absolutely Horrible service. Its a miracle if my cell phone can pick up 5 bars. I am constantly dropping calls and even before the person I am calling picks up. When I am connected I have to stay in one place or the sound will start to break up. When ever I take the phone in to Verizon or call them they say the phone is fine. Their "Can you hear me now?" crap is a bunch of BS. The only reason I am still with Verizon is because I still have a 2 year contract and all my family and my wife's family have Verizon so I talk all I want with In-Network. This is the phone I use for my home phone and I am not pleased.

The worst customer service in the industry. Coverage is good, but spotty. Had coverage in Yosemite National Park, but not at the Grand Canyon. Signal in Northern California is spotty. Great coverage in SF, but horrible coverage in Napa and Davis/Sacramento area. I've exchanged out my phone 3 times and another phone on my account 4 times. I was told I could ask for another model of equivalent value for free, but the reps at the store said that was incorrect. I'm trying to find anyway out of my contract. Run away from Verizon. I never thought that I'd say this, but I think Sprint PCS is better than Verizon. [BTW I HATE SPRINT PCS!]

Verizon Wireless Plans network is great I have no problems with coverage in hard to reach areas but in major cities it seems there coverage is not that great I will have 1 or 2 bars in the middle of the city but when in the middle of no where I will have full bars... There plans are awful I never had a bill less than 130.00 they also dont offer unlimited text messaging to everyone only to verizon to verizon which sucks.. There customer service stinks since they have to transfer you everytime you ask a differnet question.. Plus they always added extra charges on my bill...

I have been with Verizon for two years. I have had no problems with the phone or coverage, maybe because I don't leave the good coverage area much. When I made plan changes, they didn't tell me that my two years started over again. However, when I complained they changed it back to the original two years. As my two years expires this month I am looking at other offers, but am somewhat concerned that other companies that offer more minutes for the money may not be as problem free.

I've been with Verizon since March of '05. This is the 4th phone I've had and I keep dropping calls. I have had nothing but problems with this phone. I had a Motorola V265 first and it was a pretty good phone, but after a month or two I kept getting a lot of static on the line and no one could hear me, nor could I hear them. They sent me this KXV 1 and I have had nothing but problems out of it. If you are not in a big city or on a interstate you don't get much service or you will keep dropping calls. They have now sent me a LGX3300 and I have just had it for 3 days now. I am a truck driver and I haven't been out since I have had this phone so I'm not sure how it will hold up but we will see.

I had Verizon 3 yrs. ago, got rid of them because my bill was always wrong and customer service was so rude. I am now with Cingular for the past year, coverage and customer service are great but was thinking of looking for a better plan. I think I will stay with Cingular because it looks like Verizon has not changed, they are still ripping people off! They would have alot more customers if they treated people better. I had to call them every month for 2 years and never got my bill fixed that's why I didn't stay with them. A little tip about Cingular phones, the cheaper the phone the better the coverage. : ) Good luck with Verizon

Verizon might not have coverage everywhere in the U.S.A. but, is the best service provider in my opinion! The Customer service reps take care of you right away! Your problem becomes their problem! I left Cingular due to their lack of knowledge about their own service! Their reps need more training. I also spent waiting too long on the phone waiting for help, and kept getting transfered to every department in their company. Verizon Cell phone plans are higher, but you get what you pay for! Good service and friendly reps! Shame on Cingular!

Use caution when going with Verizon Wireless. They will change their networking and they don't care if it effects your coverage area negatively. This happened to me before my contract was up and the $300+ phone that I had no problems with suddenly became useless within my immediate service area. Verizon really let me down this time.

This phone will not work at my home. Everyone with Verizon in my area drops calls. They know they have a problem because they're trying to erect a tower in my sub division. They told me to buy a new phone when I complained. The little red map they have doesn't mean a thing...just to sucker you in. The customer rep started to argue with me and told me he couldn't do anything and that I should buy a new phone $$$$$.

I researched cell plans & phones before I signed up for the 900 min. plan & LG VX3300 phone 2 weeks back (chose Verizon because of their coverage & the comparative customer ratings on this site). I've called customer service several times with questions & each time it was a pleasant experience & they took the time to explain their answers about number portability, plan features, int'l calling, number changing, billing, phone features, blocking text msgs, website, etc.. At the end of my 2 week trial period, I decided to downgrade my plan (needed only 450 mins) & change my phone number - it was a simple process & was completed over the phone with no hassles. The phone works great indoors & outdoors. Overall no complaints so far with the plan or the phone.

Verizon is the best service I have tried many wireless companies including alltel sprint AT&T nextel and have come to the conclusion that, if u live in the middle of no-where or travel alot verizon is the best choice never had any problems they treat their customes fairly not like some of the other companys that rip you off. But i think that they have the best service anyway you look at it.

This is the worst phone I have ever had. If you work at verizon my only hint is to quit and start working for T-mobile. Verizon does NOT suit any of my needs. T-mobile I get instant messaging, camera, video, bluetooth, e-mail, international phone, megatones, wallpaper, speaker phone, internet, and t-zones. I got a cell phone that has all of that for free. It also came with free shipping, portable handsfree, car charger, holster 850 Whenever Minutes Unlimited Mobile to Mobile Unlimited Nights & Weekends Free Nationwide Roaming Not only that, but I actually get $250.00 So, I am just filling you in.

Great coverage, even in rural and backwoods PA. I travel alot and there were very few areas where I didn't get service. HOWEVER...customer service was atrocious. Incorrect billing, rude service customers, I even asked to speak with a supervisor and was told "no"...I cancelled that day.

I am a new verizon customer. I did alot of research before switching from sprint to verizon, but it appears I didn't do enough research. I am very disappointed to learn about how verizon handles adding airtime minutes. I use my phone regularly for business, and my usage fluctuates from month to month. With the way verizon handles adding minutes, if you get close to using your monthly minutes and call to add minutes, they won't add the minutes retroactively, which means that the added minutes don't get applied for the current month (which is the whole point of adding extra minutes in the first place!) When I signed up with Verizon, the account rep made it sound like adding minutes was easy and could be done anytime without penalty - this is obviously not the case. In comparing Verizon to Sprint, my opinion is that Sprint is better because they let you add minutes anytime and it gets applied to the current bill. I hope more people find out about this - maybe if enough people complain Verizon will change their policy.

I've had Verizon for more than 5 years and I'm through. Their customer service has gown downhill recently. Last year I brought a defective phone to the Verizon store and I was impressed (at the time) because they replaced it on the spot for "free." Now I find out that they added 2 years on to my contract and it will cost me $175 if I want to get out of it. I've had other customer service screw ups with their billing, but this takes the cake. There are plenty of other cell companies out there. AVOID VERIZON!

I can't wait to get out from under way Verizon contract. We upgraded phones last year because they said the phones were the problem. But we had to sign a new two-year contract and the phones didn't help the problem. We constantly get dropped calls, missed calls and voice mail days later. Verizon reps refuse to bend on contracts or help with problems. We are considering paying the outrageous $175 fee (per phone) to cancel the service!

AT&T Wireless jerked me around for two years. Telling me to switch to their all GSM network was plain mean, since that network is awful to this day. Worse, in fact, after the merger with Cingular. In contrast to the constantly dropped calls and mortifyingly bad customer (dis)service, Verizon's network is crystal clear, rock-steady and a far, far better value than ATT or Cingular, since Verizon's IN Plan (no minutes deducted for calling other Verizon cell phones) means I have unlimited minutes with family and a few talkative friends. Way to go Verizon! If only you had a broader selection of cell phones to offer. I gave customer service a 5 only because I haven't had to use it. I figure if I never have to call customer service, Verizon is doing things right to begin with.

I have been with Verizon for 3 years now and I'm on my second phone. Never dropped a call. I ride my motorcycle alot and my cell is my only way of communication out on the road. I took a trip down the east coast the summer of 04 and was never once out of range of a tower. This trip included a ride through the Outer Banks of North Carolina. Even when I was on a boat with barely any land in site I still had clear calls. My buddy who was with a different network lost his network for 3 days as we traveled along the Bay and into the islands. Let's just say I put coverage area to the test some times. Mountains, 40 mins into Canada never lost my signal. As long as that keeps happening, I will be with Verizon for years to come.

This company charged me for a month of service just because I signed up on the nonbilling date. Which the sales person didnt even mention. So I payed twice as much for my phone and first month of service. My bill has'nt been the same price twice, and I got reamed on roaming the one time I take it outside of my local area. I personally would avoid this place if I could do it over again. It's not worth it.

Ok, now for all of you that are now scared by Verizon's billing, let me say my experience with them has been WONDERFUL. I originally signed up for the 400 America's Choice plan, but then I called and asked about upgrading to the $59.99 plan with 800 minutes instead. The rep explained everything about the new plan, how it would be billed and let me know that it could be in effect immediately or on day 1 of my new billing cycle. Now that is service! The other impressive parts to Verizon are the website, which is spectacular. You can check balances, view bills, check how you spend your minutes and even upgrade hardware and plans without any problems. The stores are another plus. The sales people in the store cared about my phone and plan decisions. I went in to buy a particular phone and the rep let me play with it, send emails, photos, all sorts of fun, but then after asking what I wanted in the phone, he showed me 3 different models all fitting the bill, one of which I purchased. Verizon's call quality is wonderful, the VX7000 has adequate volumes, both ear and rings. The coverage is great, except for the fact that I do live near an airport so many times I wander in to that 'extended network' mode where I can't access wireless web or get it now items - but that is a very small issue since calls are very clear and never seem to go 'un-noticed' like they did when I had AT&T. Keep in mind also that the VX7000 does not have analog support so I am operating only on the Verizon Digital Network. My one and only issue is my bill seems to be much higher than it was with AT&T. I was on a 39.99 plan with AT&T, and I think it was $3.99 a month for Mmode. Photos could be sent via email on the phone so there was no need for a PIX message package, web was billed by KB used rather than time - which saves a lot of minutes, and MMode had a much better or more user friendly interface. My AT&T bill ran about $55 and with similar usage my Verizon bill is about $90. It is more money, but frankly, with the 'IN' Minutes I am more than making up for that lost money. Overall, Verizon is a great carrier, and while they are not perfect, if you take your time, ask the right questions and be patient, they will try to help. If you do run into a serious problem with billing or hardware, go to a VZW Store and get some help. They only want to make you happy so they can keep taking your money for a long, long, long time...

I am always looking for cheaper cell phone service, but have been a Verizon (and predecessors) customer for many years and really haven't ever had a problem with their service or customer support. They are usually willing (when I call them) to change plans to meet my changing needs at no charge. My wife and I have different phones. With my LG VX4400 I never have a dropped call, get more bars than she does in the same location, and people cannot tell (most of the time) that I'm on a cellular. I frequently forward my office telephone to my cell and the excellent coverage, call clarity, and signal strength mean that my customers can reach me cleanly anywhere I am.

I spend 95% of my time between downtown Lafayette (only a couple blocks from the courthouse), and the Purdue Campus. Both pretty obvious places to have decent reception, right? I would say that I get decent reception about 15% of the time, and to prevent calls from being dropped, I have to remain stationary! Yes, that's right, my "mobile" phone requires me to stand still to keep a connection. I can't even get within 50 feet of any building or it starts to break up. Forget about indoor use, I live in an ancient wooden building with half inch thick walls and I can't even get a signal in there! Tell me again why Verizon is the number one carrier? The customer service is nice, but I would prefer not to have to talk to them.

Coverage is good. Call Quality is good. Customer service is, well, not so good. You have to know how to get technicians out of "robot" and "this is company quality mode" to get any sort of good help. My recent trouble is inability to call an AT&T cell phone number. That same number can call me. The error message I get is that their number is disconnected. It's obviously not and it's only VZN customer's that cannot call that number. VZN insists it's AT&T's issue, but, they will not stay on the phone with you to call AT&T and settle the matter on the phone. I'm in the telecom industry and know something about the problem, but, the front line will not let me talk to the people who know how to talk to me. That's the only frustrating thing. Other than that, I really like them. I'm thinking of adding my wife to the plan.

I've had Verizon since March of '01 and I've been very happy with: 1) coverage and 2) call quality. I never drop calls and live practically in downtown Chicago. My fiancee uses AT&T and has to go outside to get a signal when I can get a call in our basement bedroom. The customer service does suck. I show a past due on my bill for over 1 1/2 yrs that was paid. I even send them copies of the returned check to prove it and they keep calling me every month about it and I have to go through the whole story every time. I have to say this from my experience though: when it comes to phones, you get what you pay for!!! Poor reception IS mostly attributed to a cheap $39.00 phone! It's true, they have a very poor phone selection, but I have the Kyocera 7135 Palm. That's why I'm with Verizon in the first place, but I want the Treo 650 which is now out on Sprint. Verizon WILL carry it, but their testing if very rigorous and won't release a new phone until it's 100% satisfactory. But for poor reception-buy a better phone.

Just switched to Verizon after being with AT&T. I was happy with AT&T's TDMA service, but wasn't sure how the coverage/quality would be with the GSM service now that AT&T & Cingular are one company. The Family Share plan with Verizon does cost more, but the coverage & voice quality is far superior than the TDMA service I used to receive from AT&T. Just didn't want to take a chance with Cingular during their transition. It was worth the extra money with Verizon to ensure I get quality service.

Does any one remember when Verizon came out with famiy share plan... when you can add a family member and share their munutes, and most importantly, call any other verizon client without being charged peak minutes, that is free calls to other verizon clients. Well, I recall that, and after adding my son to the plan, a while later, verizon tells me that his calls to other verizon clients are limited to 250 minutes a month, anything above that he goes to peak minutes! I think that was bait and switch!

When I bought the original plan 4 years ago the one thing I was most happy with was customer service. I would have rated it 4-5 the first 2 years. But over the last year I would rate it 1-2 simply because they no longer care about me as a loyal customer. If I want a new phone now I will have to pay around $200. Does anyone see something wrong with this scenario? I suggest Verizon act like they want to reward longevity and give us a break. Almost 2 years ago I bought a second phone for my daughter but she doesn't like her phone and plans to drop it as soon as 1/21/05 hits. My son in IN has Verizon and the 3 of us can talk mobile-to-mobile and I would stay with Verizon, but no person I talked to this last year really seems to care if I do. I will try one more time and let you know.

I have had Cingular and Nextel and those were great but when my job switched to Verizon all things went to hell. Everyone at work was getting there voicemails sometimes up to a day late. Also we couldn't get calls at all .. they wouldn't even make the phone ring at all. We switched phone four times and we are at our wits ends with phone malfunctions and very poor coverage. I decided to go back to Cingular and turn my bill in to work so they pay it. I'm glad to say I get my calls and and my voicemails since I went back to Cingular.

I like verizon a lot but only problem is that in Central NJ in cinnaminson I don't get a good signal(one bar) but drive 2 minutes to delran and I get full range. otherwise excellent service I get reception almost everywhere. I would stick with verizon forever but for two reasons. 1. The SIM card is very important to me because I travel around europe and all services in europe use the SIM card.(which t-mobile has) the SIM card makes it easy to change phones or services. 2. Verizon's selection of phone sucks, they need more motorolas and they should carry the best phone ever made the SonyEricsson P900 it might be expensive but well worth it, it can take up to ten minute videos, touch screen, email access and its not huge like u would expect it to be, the size is perfect, and verizon should start carrying some of the higher end nokias that are coming out in europe. the 7600, 7200(which is a camera flip phone),plus many more.

I'm working on 9 months now with Verizon. I felt like slapping myself once getting rid of Nextel after a long 2 1/2 Painful years. Verizon is by Far the best. I have friends still using Nextel, Why? I just don't know. They say "Direct Connect". Being a past nextel user I can honestly say that Direct Connect calls were very frustrating which usually resulted in dialing out to my contact anyway. The reception from Nextel was HORRIBLE. I lost 1 call so far, which is in an area where Nextel and T-mobile loose complete signal. If you really want a great service I highly recommend Verizon. I'm sold for life with them. I would like to see more phones available in the near future. I have the LG vx6000 and I love it, my only gripe would be it doesn't have speaker phone.

I travel a lot on the coast from Galveston County, Brazoria County, Matagorda County and south. When I leave Brazoria County the signal goes away or to an analog signal (which is roaming and Verizon charges for any roaming). No problem with service, billing, etc. I have employees that have Cingular and Sprint standing beside me making calls, when I can't. I've got to get better coverage.
