We bought 14 for our company and we too are rarely to not at all able to direct connect. I have spent many many hours with 'PEGGY" on the phone trying to resolve this.

This is the worst cell phone I have ever tried to use. Even with the phone smashed against my ear I could not understand what the caller was saying. It sounded all garbled. I had to stand perfectly still if I managed to be able to hear somewhat clearly. If I moved, it lost clarity. I was trying to replace my Nextel phone which was having problems receiving text messages but I am returning the Dura XT and reactivating my old Nextel. I wasted an entire day of my life on the phone trying to get this phone returned and my old one back up and running. Words to the wise: don't do it.

Please read and believe these reviews. This is the worst phone ever! I've had it less than 24 hours and am returning it. Garbled sound, no reception. I have reactivated my old phone. It wasn't as bad as this one. Save yourself some sanity and don't get this phone.

I have had the phone for about 20 minutes and so far I hate it!! The direct connect rarely works. It never has any service.. this is going to be a very long 2 years

This phone will put you on Blast...literally. While the phone was in my pocket, the external speaker button was pushed (without my knowledge)and called the last number in my phone and placed itself on speakerphone (who is their right mind would want this feature?). I'd rather have my old phone.
