Majority of teenagers send most of their text messages from home, says LetsTalk.com study of teen cell phone use; text messaging twice as popular as other cell phone features San Francisco, CA (September 6, 2006) Online wireless retailer LetsTalk today announced the results of a survey that found 63% of U.S. teenagers aged 10-18 send most of their text messages from home, with only 18% responding that they send most text messages from school. In a second survey to be released on September 12 in advance of industry trade show CTIA Wireless IT, teen respondents were asked about what features they preferred in a cell phone, and 49% of teenagers listed text messaging as their most important feature. The second most popular response, cameras in cell phones, received only 25% of the vote. The survey also found that...
“Considering the controversy over the use of cell phones in schools, it's quite surprising that very few teens do most of their text messaging from the classroom,” said Delly Tamer, CEO of LetsTalk.com. “It is by far the most popular feature among teenagers, but its use in schools may not be as widespread as people think.
