Expert Reviews of BlackBerry® Pearl™ 8100 (T-Mobile)
Expert Rating: 4.3

Theres a good reason why everyone has been buzzing about the Blackberry Pearl: Its the first Blackberry device that has done an amazing job at integrating cell phone functionality with the companys trademark e-mail offering in a device thats as easy-to-use as it is stylish. Oh, and that trackball is just fun to use. The only drawback is less than stellar battery life. If youve always wanted a Blackberry, but just didnt like its bulky casing, the Pearl is the model to checkout.

Overall the Blackberry 8100 is a great phone. It's my first smartphone and I returned the Pantech Duo for this one. The trackball is awesome, every networking site makes a mobile app for this phone, and I just love having IM on my phone. Best cellphone I've ever owned, hands down.

I love the Blackberry 8100. I love how durable it is. I could probably drop it from my roof and it'd hold up. The only thing that's really difficult is when you try to end something too quickly, it takes a while. I love how small it is. I could put it in my pocket and it actually fits! The battery is amazing. I barely turn my phone off and it lasts about 2 days.

This Blackberry 8100 is great, except for the fact that I never get to use it. It's always frozen. The hour glass figure stays on the screen for the majority of the day. I have to take out the battery and then replace it, but then it only works for about 20 minutes before it's back to the hour glass again. I'm exchanging it for another phone.

The Blackberry 8100 is a nice cell phone. I like the design, although the camera button should be somewhere else. The battery needs to be charged every night even when you do not use it a lot. I also could not set up email on this phone. I do not know why, but the option does not even come up in the setup wizard. I love the hands-free calling feature and the bluetooth. I think it could have had a regular keyboard instead of the Qwerty since it really is not practical to try to use. The call quality is very good, it is easy to use and was easy to set up. I like the design except for the few things I mentioned above.

With the Blackberry 8100, there is an echo like you are talking in a tunnel. No matter what you do, you can still hear your own voice echo as you talk. The email was not set up and I have tried to contact letstalk.com and T-Mobile to set it up and cannot get anywhere. The voicemail also does not work. The whole idea of the blackberry is to use your email and I cant. It also takes forever to send and receive pictures.
