HTC unveils the slender, sporty Rhyme

At an event today in New York, HTC took the wraps off the HTC Rhyme. The new Android 2.3 smartphone is all about style. The slim (measures 4.6 by 2.4 by 0.4 inches) phone will be available in three fashion friendly colors: Clearwater, Hourglass, and Plum. It will be loaded with the expected features: 1GHz processor, 3.7-inch WVGA super LCD screen, front-facing VGA camera, rear-facing 5-megapixel camera with the ability to record 720p HD video, and all the other features included in an Android smartphone. The real twist here is the updated HTC Sense experience.

HTC Sense is an overlay that sits on top of the Android OS, making the phone a bit more user-friendly. It also offers HTC wallpapers, scenes, and widgets. The newer version found on the Rhyme will be a bit cleaner offering faster access to the features you use most. Speaking of wallpapers, the Rhyme will come loaded with a variety of original art designs that can be used as the phone’s wallpaper.

The Rhyme will be available in October for Verizon customers (Sorry, this isn’t a 4G LTE phone). In addition to the 4GB of on-board memory, the phone will come with an included 8GB microSD card, tangle-free headphones, a docking station, and a charm, which is a small light-emitting cube that hangs from the phone designed to alert users of incoming calls and messages. For those who like to take their cell phone with them while working out there’s also an optional sports band accessory.
