Verizon opens Application Innovation Center

Following on the heels of last month’s opening of the Verizon Innovation Center in Waltham, MA designed to showcase the future of 4G LTE products, the company opened the Application Innovation Center in San Francisco this month. The idea behind the new center is to provide a place for application developers to get help needed to do more with apps. For example, say there’s an existing game app and developers just want to add 3D functionality to the app, they can find that help at the Innovation Center.

At the event in San Francisco there were a few things highlighted to give a better idea of how the center could be used. For example, the Open Plug development tools by Alcatel-Lucent were showcased. These are fee tools for developers to help them create an application that works on multiple platforms (Android, iOS, etc.). Also on display was the search engine app showcased below. Chomp is essentially a search engine for apps with a price comparison tool. You can get a better idea of the app by watching the video below.
