T-Mobile myTouch 4G Slide: Will this phone replace your point-and-shoot digital camera?

The latest model in T-Mobile’s line of myTouch smartphones has many of the features we’ve come to expect plus a new one that just might turn some heads. The myTouch 4G Slide is a 4G Android 2.3 cell phone with a 1.2GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor (so it’s speedy), 3.7-inch WVGA super LCD touch-screen display, and a slide-out four-line tactile QWERTY keyboard. It also sports a front-facing VGA camera for video chats and a rear-facing 8-megapixel camera with a dual LED flash.

This is where the myTouch 4G Slide starts getting interesting. The 8-megapixel camera is loaded with features like a zero shutter lag and Burst Shot so you’ll be able to use this camera phone to capture action shots as they are happening. It will also be able to handle light better - a key element to snapping great pics - with its wide aperture lens (f/2.2) and ClearShot HDR for capturing images in bright sunlight. You can store all these images on the included 8GB microSD card or upload them to photo sharing sites such as to Facebook, Picasa, or Flickr with just the touch of a button.

If video is your preference, you’ll be happy to learn that you can use the myTouch 4G Slide to record 1080p HD video that you’ll be able to edit on the phone. You can also use it to watch streaming video from apps like YouTube, Netflix, and T-Mobile TV.

The cell phone will be available in black or khaki some time next month. Lear more about the photography features by watching the video below.
