Theres no denying that tablets are popular devices bridging the gap between cell phones and laptops. In fact, earlier this year Forrester forecasted that tablet sales will total 195 million between 2010 and 2015 (according to this Mashable article). So its not surprising to see a company like Toshiba get into the tablet market. The company first announced the product as the Toshiba tablet and now we have more details on what will be called Thrive.
The operating system of choice? Android 3.1 Honeycomb. The tablet will be powered by the NVIDIA Tegra 2 processor, boast a 10.1-inch (1200x800 resolution) mulit-touch screen, and sport an integrated Swype QWERTY keyboard. Also on board are a 2-megapixel front-facing camera and 5-megapixel rear-facing camera, stereo speakers, USB 2.0 and HDMI ports, and a SD Card slot so you can add more memory. Finally, if you want to add more flare to the Thrive you can opt to get one of five (Blue Moon, Raspberry Fusion, Lavender Bliss, Silvery Sky, and Green Apple) interchangeable back covers.
This summer the Thrive tablet will be available in three configurations: 8GB for $429.99, 16GB for $479.99, and 32GB for $579.99.
