At the annual BlackBerry World conference taking place this week in Orlando, FL, RIM announced the
BlackBerry 7 OS. The new mobile OS seeks to enhance the previous version, BlackBerry 6, which redefined the user experience on BlackBerry smartphones. Overall, the new OS will offer users a faster experience with some important updates:
- Improved Web Browser Experience: Besides delivering a faster rendering experience (read: pages load faster and smoother), the browser in BlackBerry 7 also supports HTML 5 video.
- Additional Search Features: BlackBerry 6 unveiled Universal Search, which basically let you search everything on your phone and even the web with just one search. BlackBerry 7 adds support for voice-activated search so you don't even have to type a Universal Search query.
- Separate Personal and Business Content: A new feature called BlackBerry Balance is designed to help keep work and fun separate on the smartphone. For example, you can set controls so that you never accidentally forward business related content to a personal contact.
