The latest 4G LTE device from Verizon comes in the form of the Samsung Mobile HotSpot. Essentially, it's a wireless modem that you can take anywhere and connect it to a laptop for a 4G connection (when available) on the road. Additionally, the device can share its data connection with up to 5 other WiFi-enabled devices. When connected to a Verizon 4G network you can expect to get download speeds of 5 to 12 Mbps and upload speeds of 2 to 5 Mbps in 4G Mobile Broadband coverage areas so it will feel similar to surfing the web using a high-speed data connection at home. When you're not in a Verizon 4G area you can still use the modem to connect to the company's 3G network, though speeds won't be quite as fast. You can learn more about the differences between 4G and 3G by reading this post. As for a required data plan, you'll need to get a 4G LTE mobile broadband data package starting at $50 monthly access for 5GB of data. The Mobile HotSpot will be available later this week.
