Sprint is offering customers a new way to find and purchase apps and widgets on Android cell phones. The idea is called Sprint ID and it's designed to help people find the apps and widgets they want all combined in a single downloadable package. The ID Packs seem to revolve around themes and brands such as entertainment, sports, fitness, and even shopping. For example, the E Entertainment TV Pack would have the E Online application, a Keeping up with the Kardashian's app, and a Red Carpet app that will be available later this year. While a non-branded version of a Pack would be the Health and Fitness Pack that would include apps such Workout Coach, Fitness Tips, Calorie Counter, BMI Calculator and more.
Initially, the ID Packs will be available on the three new Android cell phones that Sprint introduced today, the Samsung Transform, Sanyo Zio by Kyocera, and LG Optimus S. The good news is that the packs will be free to download.
